Jacob POV

"YOU. DID. WHAT?!?!" Sam yelled, marching over to me, his face inches away from mine. I took a step back because I didn't particularly appreciate how close he was to me. The yelling was already enough, and I could feel myself starting to shake. I balled my fists up by my sides and tried to keep it together by taking deep breaths.
"Is it worth repeating, Sam? I've told you twice already. What's so hard to understand the fact that I phased, and someone saw." I stated, clearly irritated for the third time. We've been at this for about thirty minutes, and at this point, I was ready to go home. I knew I messed up and I'm just as mad at myself for everything that happened, but I'm not about to sit here and continued to get yelled at.
"You put us all in jeopardy tonight. You do realize that, right?" He said, pacing back and forth in front of me, with his hands behind his back.
"Don't you think I know that, Sam? Do you think I planned for that to happen? No, I didn't." I shot back.
"What I still really don't understand is how no one could pick up a scent?!" Sam continued to yell. At this point, he turned his yelling towards Embry, Quil, And Seth as well. They all stood there in silence, looking at anything but Sam. Paul and Jared were sitting on the couch pretending to watch tv when really, they were laughing at the fact that the rest of us were getting yelled at.
"I mean, do you think we were worried about a damn scent, Sam? We were all drunk; the house had a lot of different scents and more alcohol of course." I answered, shifting my standing position to leaning on the door frame.
"You have one more time for a smart-ass remark, Jacob." He stood in front of me once more staring at me with an angered expression on his face. I've never seen someone frown as hard as he did. I laughed in my head at that. I knew if I had laughed in his face, that would have sent him right over the edge and next thing you know I would be first display at a taxidermy convention.
"As long as you stay out of my face," I replied. Sam's face softens just a little bit, and he took a step back before letting out a deep breath. He walked over to the table and sat down. There was a bottle of bourbon, and he poured himself a shot. He drank it and let out a breath.
"Fix this." He stated, after a minute. He looked at me, Seth, Embry, and Quil. "All of you. And that's an ORDER. Now go home!"
"Gladly," I said walking out of the house and towards my own. I heard the rest of the guys follow suit.
"How the hell are supposed to protect the community if we can't pick up one measly ass scent." I heard him yell as well as hearing something being thrown against the wall.
I chuckled and continued to make my way to my house.
"You're lucky, Jake. Sam should have skinned your ass right here." I heard Paul yell at me. I didn't even bother to turn around. I flipped him the bird and kept walking. I wasn't about to waste my energy arguing with the likes of Paul. I needed to wallow in thought about what happened tonight. I needed to figure out who saw me. If I had been more focused, then maybe I would have picked up a scent or even stayed in control, but unfortunately, neither one of those happened.
I saw my house come into view and realized that I left my bike and keys at Jade's home. I would get them in the morning because I was tired. After all, it was about 1 o'clock, and luckily, we kept a spare under the flower pot on the porch.
Once I got into the house, I could hear my dad lightly snoring from his room. I went down the hall to my room and quietly shut the door behind me. I stripped down to my boxers and took my shirt off before hopping into bed. I picked up my phone and sent Jade a text stating that I would be over in the morning to pick up my bike and keys. I didn't even add a good night because I still was so mad at her for fighting Tiffany. Call me Petty Pete for all I care. I set my phone down on my nightstand and stared at the ceiling. I had a lot of shit on my plate that had to be taken care of. Starting with who saw me phase.
