Avielle POV-
After O went to work, he asked me to meet him at the lakefront so we could finally have our much needed hard conversation. I left Oak with Dontae, and walked from his condo over.
The entire walk over, anxiety filled my body. I was nervous. I was scared. I just dreaded having this convo I avoided for three years. But it needed to be done, so that we could finally put everything on the table and raise Oak peacefully as co-parents.
As I walked over to where he was sitting by himself on a big sitting rock over looking the water, my body tensed up.
I thought about running the other way. But as soon as that thought sunk in, he turned around and saw me.
Damn I thought. I took a mental deep breath, and went to join him.
He was dressed in formal business attire, a blue suit, white shirt, and formal dress shoes. He had a flower lapel pin over his right suit pocket. I smiled.
"I thought you weren't a lapel guy." I sat next to him. Remembering what he had told me three years ago, when I told him lapels make a suit more sophisticated.
Below is an example of one for visual reference.
"I got a stylist that put me on to game." He said trying to be serious.
"Oh really?" I smirked.
We shared a laugh. Our first laugh in years.
When we realized what we were doing we awkwardly looked out toward the water.
"I." We both tried to speak.
"We." We both tried to speak.
"You go." I finally looked at him.
"I just want us to both be honest. To be able to ask each other any question and not get angry at the answer. To hear and try to understand. Then come to a solution for Oak." He looked at me.
