Yukhei opened the door to his house and let Hyelin in first.
"Mom I'm home," He said shutting the door behind him.
"Fantastic! I'm about to go to the market- oh," She paused as she entered the living room to see Hyelin at his side, "Hyelin! You're back. Welcome welcome."
She began to clean off the couch and table, "Sorry this place is a mess."
"It's fine Mrs. Wong," Hyelin said chuckling, "No need to clean."
Hyelin really liked his house. It wasn't too big but it wasn't too small, it was nice and warm. It felt like home to her. The smell of cinnamon lingered as she stood in the living room. Probably due to the candle she had burning. It went nice with the season.
"I should make Yukhei clean for being so messy," She sighed gesturing for her to sit.
"Mom," He sighed grabbing Hyelin's backpack to take it to his room, "I'll be back. Please don't encourage my mom to show you baby pics."
"I won't. She showed them to me last time," Hyelin teased.
He groaned from the hallway causing her to laugh.
"Sit Hyelin, I'm almost done cooking," She smiled heading back to the kitchen, "Would you like something to drink?"
"No thank you I'm fine," She responded and sat on the couch.
Yukhei's mom was very pretty, she had the same pretty brown eyes as him. She looked very young despite Yukhei telling her his mother's age. She was also on the shorter side but she was still really pretty. Yukhei came back and plopped down on the couch next to her.
"She didn't say anything right?" He asked worried.
Hyelin chuckled, "No. You can relax."
He let out a breath of relief. He dodged a bullet there.
"Yukhei, come wash some dishes," His mother called.
Yukhei mentally sighed, so much for spending time with Hyelin. He stood up but she grabbed his arm to sit him down.
"Relax I'll do it. Dishes are my forte," She chuckled standing up.
She went to the kitchen to help out his mom. Yukhei smiled but followed in pursuit. He decided to dry the dishes after she washed them.
They finished the dishes relatively quickly. She then helped set the table.
"Hyelin you're so hardworking, you'd make a good wife huh," She smiled nudging Yukhei. "this one could use a wife like you."
"Hey, what?" Yukhei questioned, "Dont mind her."
He laughed awkwardly but Hyelin understood his pain. Her mother would often do the same to her with Jungkook's friends. She still occasionally does whenever she's in town and sees Taehyung. Parents just want their kids married.
"It's okay, my mom does the same thing," She admitted.
"Where is your mother? If I may ask, Yukhei tells me you live alone," She said cautiously.
She didn't want to make her uncomfortable on accident.
"Oh yeah I live alone. My brother is studying abroad and my parents work has them in and out of the country. They bought me a small apartment so I wouldn't have to keep switching schools."
"Ah I see," she nodded serving the food.
She put a plate in front of Hyelin and Yukhei. This time she made curry and Hyelin was beyond excited. Yukhei praised his Mom's cooking all the time but he favored her curry over any other dish and now she knew why. As soon as she tasted the curry it felt like an explosion of flavors in her mouth, it was spicy but nothing she couldn't handle. There was an undertone of sweetness. All in all she loved the dish.
