****Mariah's POV****

We sat on the grass under the large tree, our fingers entwined as my head rested on her shoulder. I felt the pair of lips on my temple, causing my cheeks to burn as I felt the warmth fill my body.

"Do you think Mrs. Anderson will find us here?" I nearly whispered, and I felt the other girl's body shake with giggles.

"Maybe, maybe not.....but I just wanted to spend time alone with you." she giggled. I lifted my head from her shoulder and turned to face her, then I grinned before speaking again.

"I wanted to give you this!! I drew it yesterday before recess, but you weren't at school." I told her, pulling the folder paper out of my pocket and giving it to her. I watched as she unfolded the paper and the red hue flushed her cheeks, then she turned to me and grabbed both sides of my face.

"This is so pretty!! Thanks!" she exclaimed, followed by kissing my nose.

"You're welcome! I wanted to give you a drawing, cause it's your wedding gift from me." I giggled, blushing because of her kissing my nose.

"Wait, do husbands and brides give the gifts to each other? I thought other people gave us gifts...." she said, her face reading confusion.

"Is that how it goes?"

"That's what I thought! I've already told Janet, Mike, Prince, Toni and Celine to bring gifts for later. Besides, I didn't get you a gift 'cause I didn't know." she said, her face falling and hanging her head.

"S'okay, Nippy. You already gave me lots of gifts!" I told her, followed by kissing her head.

"Nuh-uh....I didn't get you a wedding gift."

"Uh-huh! You let me have half of your peanut butter and fluff sandwich today, 'cause I didn't have lunch....AND you shared you juice box with me. And you always share your green marker with me, ever since I lost mine last week." I explained, and the girl looked at me.

"I guess.....but I still feel like a lousy husband 'cause I didn't give you a gift just now." she pouted.

"Well, don't feel like that!! You're the most best-est husband in the entire world, Whitney!! And besides, you're not my husband yet....we don't get married until after school." I responded, making Whitney grin.

"You're the nicest, most prettiest wife in the universe....you know that, Mariah?" Whitney smiled, followed by kissing my cheek.

"I-" I started, but was interrupted by our teacher.

"Girls, what are you two doing sitting here? I told you that recess was almost over 5 minutes ago!" Mrs. Anderson said.

"But Mrs. Anderson, me and Whitney were planning our wedding.....we needed to finish!" I informed her, my fingers still laced with Whitney's.

"Yeah!! Mariah's gonna be my wife, and I'm gonna be her husband after school is over! We've already invited our friends to my house for the wedding!!" Whitney beamed, pulling me closer to her.

"Whitney, you're a girl like Mariah.....so you'd be a wife, too. But anyway, you two can't get married....for starters, you two are six year olds. Plus, both of you are girls and girls don't marry other girls.....girls are supposed to marry boys." Mrs. Anderson explained.

"But boys are yucky!!" Whitney whined.

"Yeah, and I don't want a boy to be my husband!! Nippy is the perfect husband for me." I added, while Whitney placed a few kisses on my cheek.
