"Yo, I'm here!!" she said as she burst through the door, interrupting Mrs. Johnson's speaking. Her face was almost swallowed from visibility by her wild mane of blonde curls and white shirt, which was one of the only 4 shirts she apparently owned, had a large stain on the side of it.

"Mariah, you're 23 minutes late to class...." Mrs. Johnson frowned at the girl, who made a habit of disrupting class.

"So? I'm here now, ain't I? Be grateful, 'cause  I almost didn't come to this shithole." the girl frowned.

"I would write you up and give you detention for your foul language. However, I know that you already have detentions booked up through the next two weeks so...I don't particularly see the point." Mrs. Johnson sighed, rubbing her temples. She, and most of the other 8th grade teachers, had gotten to the point where they had no clue of how to discipline Mariah because nothing they did ever worked. Unfortunately for the teachers and the school, Mariah had five younger siblings and all of them were a school year apart....her brother Jamie was a 7th grader, meaning that Mrs. Johnson and the other 8th grade teachers would have him next year. After Jamie there was Anthony, then Brielle, then Sebastian and Gianna. Teachers had 6 years of Carey children in a row....and honestly, there was not enough therapy or wine in the world for anyone to be able to deal with the six Carey children.

"So can I sit down or what?" Mariah asked, giving the teacher her trademark smirk.

"Yes, Mariah....you can sit down." Mrs. Johnson responded, a deep exhale following. Mariah looked around the room before her eyes landed on the seat by the window then she approached Andrew Collins, the boy who was sitting in the chair.

"Get up, Collins. This is my seat now!" Mariah told him, causing him to look up at her.

"But I've been sitting here since the first day of school....." Andrew said.

"Well, you won't be sitting here anymore pal! Get the fuck up!" Mariah replied to him.

"Why?" he questioned, and Mariah grabbed him by the front collar of his shirt.

"Because if you don't move, I will shove my foot so far up your ass that you'll be tasting the bottom of my boot for the next 6 months!" Mariah gritted through her teeth, causing the boy to tremble in fear in her grip.

"Now scram!!" she continued, pushing him as she released her hold on his collar. Andrew frantically gathered his things and quickly moved from the desk, then Mariah sat down in it with a pleased smile on her face.

"Mariah, you really should be nicer to your classmates." Mrs. Johnson said to her.

"And you really should consider dying your hair something other than that awful red because you look like Ronald McDonald. But unfortunately, it seems we both have issues with doing things we should." Mariah responded. Mrs. Johnson opened her mouth as she was about to speak, but she clearly decided against it and walked back in front of the board.

"Anyway, as I was saying before the interruption, I am assigning a creative writing prompt called 'Opposite of Me'. I have chosen partners for each of you based on your personalities, and I want you to learn more about your partners. Learn each other's likes, dislikes, family lives, goals and aspirations for this assignment.....then, in a 1300 to 1400 word essay, I want you to capture both your partner's personality and your own. Compare and contrast the two personalities, and explain what can be learned from 'the Opposite of You'. We will be working on this for the remainder of the semester, and I will give you small assignments for homework that will help you write the paper." Mrs. Johnson explained as she passed the assignment prompt sheets out.

"Now, here are the partners. Rizzoli and Isles.....Collins and Matthews....Jackson and Ciccone....Harris and Gonzalez....Pinheiro and Franklin....Malek and Lu....Nkrumah and Moretti....Nelson and Brown....Benson and Stabler....Novak and Cabot....Carey and Houston...." Mrs. Johnson continued. She was still reading off the rest of the partnerships, but my mind drowned her out as the only thing I could focus on was that I was paired with Mariah Carey.

I, Whitney Houston, was screwed for the rest of the semester......

So, this is loosely based of the Herdmans book series (which includes The Best Christmas Pageant Ever, The Best School Year Ever and The Best Halloween Ever) by Barbara Robinson. I wanted to this type of oneshot because I want to focus on young puppy love (that is NOT heteronormative in nature), and young puppy love allows for me to write about a budding relationship without the drama of sex and what not. So, obviously, there will be nothing sexual (at least not involving the main coupling) or too angsty about this oneshot. Anyway, COMMENT COMMENT COMMENT COMMENT COMMENT COMMENT COMMENT COMMENT AND VOTE VOTE VOTE VOTE VOTE!!!!!!!

The song 8th Grade by Mariah is above in the mm. By the way, I'm trying to do a oneshot loosely based on/named after each song on the Caution album. I'm going in order from my favorite song to least favorite. Caution was the first song I used for a oneshot (my favorite song on the album)  and now I'm using 8th Grade (my #2 song on the album).....can you guys try to guess what my #3 song on the album is? I wanna see your predictions.
