****Stephanie's POV****

I was walking down the hallway when I saw Mariah at her locker, which automatically made me smile. I was going to talk to her, but before I could make it over there Jennifer came out of nowhere and stood in front of me.

"Hey, big head." she smiled, causing me to roll my eyes.

"Jen, what do you want?" I asked her, not wanting to deal with her shenanigans.

"What? Just because we're not together anymore doesn't mean that we can't be friends."

"Why don't you go be friends with Marc.....remember him? Or were you too busy sucking him off." I spat, causing Jennifer to put her head down.

"Yeah, that's what I thought." I sighed. I gently pushed her to the side and made my way to Mariah, who was changing her days on her little whiteboard. She had the days counting down until graduation on there, and she would change the day at the end of the day.

Anyway, I walked behind her and covered her eyes with my hands, causing her to giggle like crazy. She moved my hands and faced me, then she giggled more and blushed while keeping hold of my hands.

"Hi, Steph!" Mariah giggled, followed by kissing my cheek.

"Hey, Mariah. You ready to go?" I smiled.

"Yeah, I am. Whitney and Michael said that they'd meet us at the diner....I think they left, though, because both of them have a free period on 8th block." she told me. We were going to a little diner for a double date thing, and after that we were going ice skating. Whitney and Michael had been dating for 7 months, but Mariah and I had just started talking and weren't quite dating yet.

"Okay, well let's go." I grinned. Mariah shut her locker and held my hand as we went back down the hallway, and once again Jennifer approached me.

"Oh my God, what do you want?!" I groaned, annoyed with Jennifer's existence at that point.

"Nothing, I was just coming to tell you to remember the essay for Mrs. Jones' class is due. That should be your main priority, and not playing around with her." she said.

"Jen, that damn essay is due Monday.....today is FRIDAY. I've got an entire weekend to do it." I frowned.

"Well, I'm just reminding you. Don't let Mariah take up all of your time, sweet pea." Jennifer smirked.

"Besides, aren't you straight Mariah? Or are you sneaking around with Stephanie because you're scared that your 'God fearing', holy-rolling mama will find out that you like girls?" Jennifer continued, then speaking to Mariah.

"That is enough, Jennifer! Leave her the hell alone, and leave me alone!" I said through gritted teeth.

"She's stealing you from me, Stephanie! I love you, and I want to fix things but your head is too far up her ass to see that!"

"Mariah isn't stealing me from you.....you did this to yourself, Jennifer. Besides, if Mariah is stealing me from you then it's karma.....do you remember how you stole Mariah's song for music class? Because the whole school remembers that. So this is karma biting you in the ass for everything you've done, you conniving little bi-"

"Steph, stop it....I'm okay. Don't yell at her like that, please." Mariah softly said, rubbing my hand.

"You know what? You're right, baby girl......let's go." I said, deciding to stop entertaining Jennifer's foolishness. I kissed Mariah's forehead and she gave me a small smile, then we walked past Jennifer and towards the door.
