Destiny's pov
I found Alexis in the empty classroom she always used, staring up at the ceiling and spinning in circles on the swivel chair she found last year. I stopped by to give her the lunch she purposely left on the kitchen counter this morning. Not the bags full of sugar that she always sneaks out of the house with every day.
"Don't you have class now?" I asked her before she noticed my presence, and as expected, she nearly fell off the chair in surprise.
"What the f'ck Destiny!" She whisper-screamed at me.
I just laughed at my best friend's reaction. "Here, I brought your lunch."
"Thanks, dear," she said with a smile that I am sure, hid her disappointed feeling underneath. "But I already have lunch."
I just shrugged my shoulders in an I don't care attitude and took up her school bag. I unzipped the bag as I saw her getting up from the chair to approach me.
"DJ, if you ever!" She said through gritted teeth, narrowing her eyes at me.
I grinned victoriously as I took out three large milk-chocolate bars and some gummy bears. I raised them above my head as I addressed her again.
"This is not food!" I said. She stomped her feet cutely as she protested. "I don't care. Give em back!"
"No." I said, imitating her actions, "and if you continue like this, I'm going to tell Ma."
"You can't stop me!" She yelled, pouting her pretty pink lips, causing me to look away to prevent myself from staring at them like my favourite food.
"Of course I can," I replied, "I know about your secret stash under your bed Lexi."
She gasped a little, opened her mouth to speak but only came out with an annoyed "UGH!!"
I let out a satisfied laugh and casually threw her sweets into the nearest wastebasket. I brushed imaginary dust off my hands as I smiled down at Lexi who was now breathing angrily through her nose and glaring daggers at me.
"I hate you so much!" She screamed, "don't you have anything better to do!!"
"Actually, no." I replied calmly, "not right now anyway."
"You are such an asshole sometimes!" She fisted her tiny hands at her side and I stood, waiting for her to start shaking in anger. That's usually the best time to stop riling her up. If I don't stop then... Well, let's just say I don't want to be the next person who will have to leave the country.
"Lexi, calm down, I'm trying to help you," I said.
She was silent for a while, glaring at me then at the wastebasket then at me again. I counted in my head as I usually do in these situations. 1234...
Alexis exhaled harshly and grabbed her backpack from me and swung it on her shoulders. She tried to step pass me but I blocked her. "you're forgetting something." I said, holding up the sandwich that I brought her.
"No," she answered crossly, "I most definitely did not forget it. You eat it."
"Okay, you leave me no choice," I said, bringing out my phone from my pocket. "I'm calling your mom."
I heard another irritated"UGH!" Before the bag was harshly snatched from my hands and the double doors of the empty room slammed as she made her dramatic exit. I stood there for a minute, grinning at the closed door as the deafening sound resonated through the room. I may not get her to talk to me for the rest of the week or day if I'm lucky, but I did make her eat a proper lunch today. My work here is done.

She came home from school a few hours later than I did, not even sparing me a glance as she dropped her bag at the door and headed straight for the stairs. I frowned at her behaviour, not because she didn't acknowledge my presence; that was expected, she was still mad at me. It was because she usually heads straight for our study room, that was where she usually leave her school stuff. Unless...I looked at the calendar on the wall and noted the date, nodding to myself. I sighed as I paused the YouTube video I was watching earlier and got up and went to the kitchen. I placed the teapot on the stove with some water as I hummed contentedly to myself, searching the cupboard for teabags. I made a mental note of the door which slammed shut upstairs and nodded in understanding.
No wonder she didn't punch me in the face this morning. She was saving her strength for tonight. Well, I guess this means no more late night partying for a few days. At least we know she's not pregnant. Thank God! I headed upstairs with the scalding cup of tea and knocked softly on her bedroom door. I heard a muffled groan in reply and took it as my cue to enter.
"I brought you tea," I said, placing it down on her bedside table. She groaned again as she laid across her bed on her tummy and stared at the floor.
"How bad is it?" I asked concerned.
Another groan.
"Taken any pills?"
She nodded once.
"Need anything else?"
She shook her head no.
"I'll be downstairs if you want any help," I said.
Another groan.
"Okay, I'll be in my room next door then."
She nodded.
I turned to leave the room when she spoke finally but in a weak voice. "DJ."
"Mhmm?"
"I'm still mad at you."
I shrugged, "that's okay. Did you eat today?" I replied.
"Yes," she said in a bitter voice, "your chicken sandwich can probably be found somewhere in a sewer in liquid form."
I grimaced in disgust as I replied. "I did not need to hear that last part."
She let out a soft chuckle before she answered. "You most definitely did."
I shook my head in exasperation as I headed back downstairs to move my stuff to my room next to Lexi's. I plugged my earphones in my ears as soon as I was settled and resumed watching the music video. The singer dude that Lexi is so adamant that it isn't him is planning a world tour sometime soon. I was wondering if he'll be coming anywhere near Lake's Town so I can be a hundred per cent sure he's not the little asshole.
But what if he is? What if the very villain of Alexis's nightmares is the same guy in all these videos I've been obsessing over for the past few days? What if he's really coming back? What if he's back to take Lexi away from me for good this time? I... I can't let that happen! I can't!
F'ck! Keep it together man. There's no time to panic. We have to continue watching him so we know his next move. We should always be two steps ahead of him. Should I tell Lexi or not? No, just keep an eye on the guy until we see an actual threat. Maybe this is nothing, after all, we don't want to alarm her unnecessarily. Right?
