Alexis's pov
I dropped my book bag on the living room couch and headed straight for the kitchen, intended to get me a slice of Destiny's apple pie. It was about the fourth one in less than a week, because I just kept devouring them as soon as they were ready to eat. DJ was cool with that because he never really eats the pies he made, even though they were not all that sweet.
We were also back on speaking terms because Destiny and I never really could avoid each other for too long. I mean, I was usually the one to do that but it never lasts long. That was because we were with each other ever since we were babies and all we knew was the other person.
I waved to Christina, who was packing up her stuff to leave for a one week family reunion that she's really not too thrilled about. I made a mental note to help her take some of her bags to the bus stop and also thank her again for getting Ismael a spot to play for some rich kids birthday dance. She also got Destiny and I invited because we were all apart of the plan to finally incarcerate the little bastard.
I walked into the kitchen and suddenly stopped halfway to the pie when I saw DJ. He was shirtless as he closed the fridge door. He opened a canned soda and drank with his naked back turned to me, completely unaware of me staring at him in silence. I obviously was unaware too. I couldn't quite figure out what I was thinking at the moment. Or was I even thinking?
Destiny must have realized he was being watched when he swiftly turned around and caught me off guard. I blinked suddenly and looked away, but I was unable to stop the tiny blush that started to bloom on my cheeks. He didn't say anything, but I could feel his eyes on me and I ended up looking his way again just to get his reaction.
The amused grin on his face was hard to miss. "Well, hello beautiful." He said, taking a few steps towards me.
I was slightly pissed at my own face for keeping on the shy smile it had. I chose to ignore his greeting. "Destiny, how many time am I going to tell you stop doing that!" I reprimanded instead.
"What am I doing?" He asked, he sounded a little confused but he kept inching closer with the same amused smile.
"That." I pointed at his bare chest, struggling to keep eye contact because a part of me wanted to search his entire naked, sweat covered torso. The sturdy, hard muscles that graced his upper body. The small trace of black hair that ran from his navel to the where his trousers began. The prominent V just at his waist band and how his pants looked loose enough to pull down with one tiny tug.
I didn't realize I was moving backwards as DJ neared me until my back was pressed against the wall that parted the living room from the kitchen. "I don't get it," he whispered, smiling down at me, "what exactly should I stop doing?"
I was struggling to prevent myself from inhaling the comforting scent that came with my best friend. It was a hint of sweat from his work out and the usual deodorant that he always used. So manly and so heavenly that I almost leaned towards him just to get a lungful. We were so close that I didn't have to do much to touch his inviting looking abs.
"Hey, angel. Are you still here?" Destiny said. He chuckled a bit and leaned over, resting both his hands on the wall next to my head. I felt trapped, and I loved it.
I looked up, meeting his daring eyes with a much needed effort. As soon as our gaze met I was lost. I didn't know what to say. My brain refused to think. All I knew was I had to get away from Destiny before I ended up doing something I might regret in the future. At the same time I wouldn't mind doing something I would regret if it meant I was doing it with Destiny. What the f'ck was I thinking?
"Umm..." I thought I said, before I blinked against my confusion and flustered state.
"I'm gonna take a shower, wanna join me?"
It was a quick question that nearly knocked the breathlessness out of me. It was so quick that I almost didn't hear it.
"What?" I wasn't sure if I was shocked or alarmed or excited or anything for that matter. Did DJ just invite me to shower with him?
"Come on, I know you want to." He said, coming closer to whisper in my ears. "I'm sure Christina knows where the bus stop is."
Oh f*ck. I can't deal with this. I tried not to shiver in excitement as goosebumps erupted on my skin and my knees went week as my legs clenched together in need.
"DJ," I forced myself to say. But that alone made me breathless and desperate. "No."
I was a bit relieved when he finally stepped away, giving me space to breathe in air that wasn't contaminated by him.
"Okay," he said, giving me an easy smile, "but my offer still stands. I'm here when you need me." He gave me a mock salute and strolled out of the kitchen.
I stood there planted to the ground for a full ten minutes wondering what the hell was that? I wondered even though I was fully aware of what just happened. My best friend just implied what was on my mind ever since our kiss in the empty classroom and I got tongue tied. I froze up like an idiot but what was I supposed to say? Oh sure, let's go f*ck in the bathroom while Chris leave without getting to say goodbye one last time.
***********
Curse you Destiny for making me feel this way. For making me have a crave for something that isn't made of sweets. For making me want to do things with you that I've never thought of in my entire life.
I was so frustrated with all these thoughts and feelings going through me that I had no idea what to do with myself. And Destiny knew it. It showed in his slightly amused and flirtatious grin he would give me every time he caught me staring at him. Which was almost all the times.
He walked around as he usually does in the house -half naked mostly- and it was hard to not look at him. I mean, look at him like the way I look at the frozen treats and M&Ms at Sammy's. And that's why I ended up in his room after I bid Chris goodbye at the bus stop. I was standing in front of his bathroom door, listening quietly to his soft hums as the shower ran.
I decided to act quickly before my nerves got the better of me and I chicken out. I knocked on the door before I let myself in.
