Alexis's pov
WARNING! VIOLENCE UP AHEAD!
I saw officer Henry decked out in jeans and skin tight t-shirt. He gave me a subtle salute before disappearing into the crowd. Chris got swept away by some guy she called Links and I was left, bobbing my head to the music and waiting anxiously for DJ.
When he didn't show up after what seemed like forever, I decided to go find him myself. I took two steps into the dancing bodies of college kids and was almost scared out of my clothes when someone grabbed my left wrist. I looked around to find Steve, wearing a slightly worried look on his face. I pried my hand away from him and glared at him.
"Listen Alexis, you can't be here, go home now." He looked behind him as he said so. Warning bells went off in my head and I was unsure if I should trust his warning.
"Where's Destiny?" I asked the one question that was in my head.
"He's here? Oh f"ck!"
"WHAT IS IT?" I screamed at the guy.
"Look, I know you hate me and you have every right not to trust me, but you have to get the hell out of here now." He said over the noise.
"WHY?" I shouted.
"Ismael is planning to kidnap you and take you back to Hawaii with him." As soon as the words came out of his mouth he covered it with his hands, his eyes going wide with shock and regret.
"Hawaii sounds great! Now move the f"ck out of my way before I f"cking move you myself!" I need to go find my baby.
I pushed him into a clustered group of guys, seemingly selling something illegal and pushed my way through to the bar. The area was empty except for the bar tender, looking longingly at the stripper poles in the center of the dancefloor. I managed to swallow my urge to panic as I approached the woman.
"The guy who came here a while ago asking for something that won't get you drunk quickly. Do you know where he went?" I described Destiny in the only way I could possibly distinguish him from the rest using simple words.
"Listen honey, you're either getting a drink or picking up a guy. Don't ask me shit."
It would have felt great to break one of those liquor filled bottles on her head, but I restrained myself with difficulties. I emptied my purse and pushed the contents towards her, not caring what I gave away. I could feel my phone in my back pocket and I never carry my credit cards in places like this.
"Here. Now tell me where the f"ck is my man!"
"That little asshole is yours?" She glared at me, popping her gum and pointed somewhere in the back. "Some men took him back there."
I raced towards where she pointed and stopped suddenly when the last person I wanted to see again came out of the shadows and stood before me. Ismael's smug smile made me sick, and I turned around without thinking and headed towards the entrance of the club.
I looked around as I did so, hoping to find any of the police. I couldn't, neither could I find Christina and I was starting to worry about her too. I wasn't quite surprised that the entrance was blocked by three well built guys. I looked behind me and saw Ismael easily weaving his way through the club. My heartbeat sped up and I started struggling for breath. I fought my panic as it threatened to overpower me.
"Not f"cking now bitch!" I whisper-yelled at myself, "man the f"ck up because you can't help me like this!" Ismael was halfway through the club when I spotted the stairs. It was the only way free of these guys and my desperation made me run towards them.
I tried every door I passed to find a way to lock Ismael out or stall for time, but they were all locked. Except for one that I terribly regret opening. It was occupied with five naked girls and two guys, one of whom asked me if I wanted to join. I could hear Ismael's footsteps getting louder behind me and my heart beating wildly in my throat.
I was on about the third flight of stairs, my legs and chest burning. A door suddenly opened in front of me and a strange man stepped out with a rope in his hands. He grinned creepily at me and stepped forward. I didn't stop or slow down. I ducked as he lunged at me and tripped the clumsy idiot who grabbed at the wall to keep himself from falling. I used his moment of weakness and elbowed him in his face and resumed running.
"YOU F"CKING IDIOT!!!" Ismael shouted at the poor guy as he passed him. The guy grunted a bit, which probably meant he got stepped on also.
I was probably on the top floor when the final door decided to open for me. It was a small empty room with a door which led to the balcony. I closed the door and made sure it was locked as I tried desperately to catch my breath. Knocks sounded from the other side as soon as I locked it.
"F"ck Alexis. Open the damn door now!"
I was suddenly thrown back about eight years ago when Ismael kicked my room door down because I decided not to talk to him for reasons he didn't want to discuss. It was times like those that I wondered what I saw in him to begin with. I hesitantly stepped away from the door to search for anything that I could use as a weapon.
I found a poker near the fire place and armed myself with it. I thought I was a bit prepared for his extravagant entrance but found myself screaming when the double doors came flying inwards. My ex stood before me fuming and breathing hard as he glared daggers at me. He slowly reach behind him and pulled out a silver gun from his waist band. He pointed the thing at me and spoke through gritted teeth.
"Put that down right now."
"Or what, you'd kill me!" I screamed without thinking. My heart almost failed me as I heard myself.
"Why would I go through so much trouble just to kill you? I thought you were smarter than that. But that doesn't mean you'll make it out unscathed."
My knees were week and I could feel bile rising in my throat, wanting me to throw up. I had to lean on the closest furniture to me and the fire poker fell from my fingers. Ismael chuckled softly as he slowly walked towards me. My hands tightened on the chair as I fought the urge to puke. The idiot had the nerve to put his hands on me and I willingly gave up my fight to hold back the food I ate a few minutes before coming here.
"Oh for f'ck's sake Lexi!!" Ismael screamed in disgust. The last thing I saw before I received an ear splitting slap to the face, was the lumpy not so liquid substance all over Ismael's shirt.
The room momentarily went black after that.
