Alexis's pov
I was a bit pissed at DJ when I came back with Christina only to find him leaving the kitchen still half naked. He made a sudden pause when he noticed our arrival and looked up at me with a surprised but innocent facial expression. Destiny appeared to have just come out of the workout room and was heading upstairs, just like when I left him about fifteen minutes ago.
He had his shirt hanging loosely on his shoulder, a water bottle in his hand and the waist of his sweat pants a little bit too low on his hips. He gave me a sheepish grin when he saw my pissed off state and Chris let out a shaky breath beside me.
"Oh my gosh!" She breathed out nervously.
I turned to see her staring at my best friend the way I look at M&Ms. Like a yummy dessert that you would gladly skip dinner to have. I was a bit confused for a while until I got myself to think about how DJ might look in Chris's eyes. I couldn't handle the thought so I shook my head to get rid of it as fast as I possibly could.
"I remembered telling you specifically to get dressed earlier." I scolded DJ crossly.
His grin just got wider as he replied, "I don't take orders from you." He glanced at Chris then back at me, "besides, I wasn't done working out."
I sighed exasperatedly, "whatever, I didn't ask for an explanation."
"I can do it now if it'll make you feel better, but I'll shower first." He said right before he winked at Christina making her face turn bright red. The poor girl.
"Nevermind," I replied, "Destiny, this is Christina. Chris, meet my bestie DJ." I waited to see what would happen next.
"Hi," DJ said, putting on a kind smile on his face, but I could tell he was trying really hard to keep it there.
I was still glaring at Destiny, but when I didn't hear a response from Christina, my attention turned back to her. She was blushing from head to toes and she looked as if she was struggling over the one simple word to say. Like her brain had shut down and she was fighting it to work properly again. I found myself thinking that I shouldn't have done this, but it was just because she kept pestering me about him.
"Umm... Hhi." She finally managed to say in a breathless whisper, that I believe DJ would have never heard if he was not paying such close attention to her with that stupid amused smirk of his. The one he usually sports when he's about to do or say something offensive. I shook my head no, to warn him against it, but he just ignored me.
"Stop staring at me like that, you're making me uncomfortable." He remarked.
Christina blinked rapidly and took a tiny step back. I gasped in shock before I screamed at the little asshole. "DESTINY!"
"What! She was totally eye f''cking me." He retorted, walking towards the stairs.
I facepalmed myself in frustration. Today is definitely not a good day. "Apologize to her right now," I ordered.
My best friend just shrugged as he said, "maybe later."
He hummed softly as he took the stairs and I growled at his back angrily before I grabbed a cushion from the couch and threw it at him.
"I am so sorry Chris." I turned to my guest after DJ left us.
"What for?" She asked, genuinely curious. She seemed unaffected by what happened a few seconds ago.
"Seriously!" I exclaimed, "my best friend just acted like a complete jerk to you."
She nodded as I lead her to the study room. "Yeah." She answered, "at least I know he's not pretending to like me. I don't blame him."
"Whatever do you mean by that," I said as we sat down and got out our books.
"I've been dragging you to parties every night. I think he misses you."
"I guess you're right," I admitted with a sigh.
"You know what else I think?" Chris said, suddenly more bright and perky than she was before.
"I think he totally has a crush on you."
"No, he doesn't."
"He like totally does! And it's probably a lot more than just a crush. And you know what else I think?" Chris asked, but I could tell, whatever it was I didn't want to know.
She did not let me answer anyway. "I think, you like him too."
"Of course I like him, he's my best friend." I almost screamed. This is ridiculous.
"No, not like that stupid." She argued, "you can't tell me that you've been friends with the very definition of sex for so long and you don't feel anything remotely like that about the guy."
"Oh my gosh, Christina! Are you hearing yourself?" I honestly had no idea how I was feeling at the moment.
"Come on girl!" Chris replied, the urgency in her voice startling me a bit. "He looks like he just stepped out of one of those magazines with his well-toned body, amazing hair and sexy dark eyes. And have you ever checked out his ass!"
"Okay, okay, enough! Shut the f'ck up!" I slammed my hands down on the table before us and then used them to cover my ears. Oh why, oh why did I introduced the two? Now how the hell am I going to concentrate on my homework properly?
Christina raised her hands up in surrender, a mischievous smile played on her lips. "Okay, I'm done. I just have one last question."
"What is it?" I sighed heavily.
"How do you sleep at nights knowing that such a hot, fine ass guy is only a few meters away from you?"
I ignored the question as best as I could by just asking one of my own. Even if it was a lousy attempt to change the subject. "Beer or soda?"
"Beer please," she replied sweetly, "I'm going to need it in case DJ comes back. You know, alcohol boosts my confidence."
I ignored the DJ when I saw him in the kitchen because I was still mad at him. I took out some beer from the fridge and grabbed some snacks before turning to leave.
"We're still going skating later, right?" He asked me as I left and I just kept on walking. I didn't feel like letting my anger go just yet.
