Alexis's pov

For those of you who have been in an exclusive relationship before, have you ever had this crazy thought or dream/nightmare that your ex will just show up suddenly and demand to have you back? Or maybe it wasn't a dream, but it actually happened in reality. For me, it was a premonition. One that had me sitting up at midnight, clutching my throat as I tried to breathe and cold sweat raced down my face like a waterfall.

I searched my surroundings, desperately trying to calm myself as my brain sought to comfort me with the knowledge that I was safely locked up in my room at a little past twelve AM. Not around midday at Sammy's wolfing down some long abandoned chocolate cupcakes with vanilla icing, the bastard of an ex-boyfriend smiling down at me smugly.

He was in a tailored gray tuxedo, his hair trimmed neatly, a bunch of red roses in one hand and an open ring box in the other. The rock in the center of the cursed ring box was blinding, and something about the whole situation caused fear to rip at my heart and I began to panic.

I fought to keep my eyes open because every time I close it the wretched image would come back. A sob escaped my lips and I blinked back a few teardrops but they kept coming anyway.

"I'm not going back. I can't go back. I won't!" I whispered to myself.

A soft knock on my door made me jump, my heartbeat accelerating. I kept quiet, not sure why I was scared to answer. Was it because I knew that it was Destiny on the other side and if I spoke he would no doubt hear the tears in my voice? I took a shaky breath as I swallowed a few more sobs and wiped at my face.

Another soft knock came, then, "Lexi?" Whispered my best friend.

I covered my mouth as I burst into tears again. What on Earth is wrong with me? I got up against my own will and opened the door for DJ. As soon as I let him in, he enveloped me in his arms, while saying softly that it's okay; even though I'm pretty sure he had no idea what was wrong with me. I love my best friend. His warm, comforting presence calmed me after a while as I kept my face buried in his t-shirt, inhaling his familiar scent.

"I know it's just a nightmare," I said, my voice shaking. I felt Destiny nod his head silently in understanding.

He pulled away to look at me with concern and worry in his eyes. "Are you alright now?" He asked slightly above a whisper.

I sighed tiredly, "I guess so."

"You sure?"

I nodded.

"Okay," he replied, tucking a stray hair behind my ears. "Go get some more sleep. I'll be right next door if you need me."

I nodded again. Destiny gave me one last concerned look before he turned towards the exit. I looked back at my tears soaked pillow and made a quick, possibly unnecessary decision.

"DJ," I stopped him as he was closing my door. "Can you stay with me please?" I seriously felt like a five-year-old when he smiled at me and nodded. Relief flooded me anyway. I thought it was either that or sleeping with the lights on for the rest of the night.

It would be just like old times when we used to fall asleep in front of the TV in my childhood room. My parents, when they came to tuck me in, would just cover us with separate blankets; mine always the Winnie the Pooh one while Destiny either ended up with Spider-Man or Tom and Jerry. I got DJ a sheet before I climbed back into bed, he joined me shortly as I whispered goodnight and slipped into my sleep.

The sweet scent of coffee woke me up and I found the culprit sitting in a cup on my bedside table as I stretched and rubbed my eyes. I searched the room for Destiny but he wasn't there. Shrugging my shoulders, I reached for the steaming cup and took a sip, smiling as the liquid warmed my insides.

I checked the clock on the table and cursed in silence. I missed the alarm again. That means Chris was already gone and I had no time to spend in the empty classroom before my classes. I hopped out of bed and sprinted for the bathroom. I got myself ready for school as fast as I possibly could, stole a piece of bread from DJ's plate before I ran through the door. I yelled a goodbye when I was at the gate about to take the shortcut to school.

I was speed walking through the security gates when an expensive looking sports car drove past me on the other side. You know the bigger gates that the vehicles use. I didn't pay it any mind, spoiled rich kids go to University too. I was three buildings away from my lecture room when the said car pulled over right in front of me, causing me to walk around the darn thing.

I swear this world is being overpopulated by assholes. Of all the parking spaces, this idiot chose to block my pathway. I fisted my hands in anger and kept on walking, determined to get to class early. What made me stop suddenly was my name being called by a strangely familiar voice behind me. I stiffened, suddenly wary and turned around slowly, still a bit pissed because I was wasting time.

The person who came out of the car made an involuntary curse escape my lips. "Cupcake!" He said, his voice taking on a cheerful sound as he greeted me.

I took a step back in disgust and stared at the brute with hatred burning inside me. "Ismael."

"I take it you must be really angry at me for my long absence." He replied, completely ignoring the level of loathing I held in my eyes.

Last night had me thinking that if or when I do encounter my ex, I would probably break down in tears and run away. But something about this made me want to attack the bitch with a butcher knife.

"I'm going to f''cking kill those security guards for letting you in right after I burn you alive in that ridiculously expensive looking car," I said through gritted teeth.

"Tsk tsk tsk." He shook his head, "oh come on the princess, you don't mean that."

"Leave right now before I call the police," I said, putting a hand inside the pocket of my jeans.

"Okay, I'll make sure they too get my autograph." His permanent smirk made me sick. "Anyway, I guess you probably already know why I'm here. Please, give me a chance to make up for what I did. I promise I will never leave you again."

"Did you hit your f''cking head on a rock or something? Oh, I know, you're freaking high on fame and fortune!" I started screaming. This guy got even crazier after he left. "I'm warning you, leave right now while you have the chance."
