James POV
"No."
"Please! I would do it for you!"
"No you wouldn't!"
"Your probaly right, but can you please do this for me!"
"No, I'm not spying on Riley's date with Charlie!"
I cringe when Eldon said 'date'.
"It is not a date. Kate is just getting them to spend time alone." I say defensively.
"Well in that case, there's nothing for me to spy on!" Eldon replies.
"I don't trust Charlie with Riley." I say.
"Well, she is your girlfriend. Why don't you go and stalk them?" He mutters.
"Okay, first of all, it's not stalking. It's more like examining. And second, if Riley see's me, she will know that I only came to stalk them, and she'll get mad."
"So you admit it's stalking!"
"Shut up. But can you please do it?" I beg. He sighs.
"Fine. But you owe me!"
Riley's POV
Me and Charlie managed to choose a movie without arguing at all. We decided on Divergent.
"I'll pay for both our tickets." Charlie announces as we approach the ticket booth.
"No, I can pay for my own." I protest.
"Does James pay when you two go out together?" He questions.
"Well, sometimes. It depends on whether or not I won our usual argument over it." I tell him. He chuckles.
"Atleast let me buy both our food."
"I can pay for my own."
"Nope. I'm paying for both."
"Charlie-"
"I'm paying. End of discussion." He finalizes. I sigh.
"Thanks." I mumble.
He pays for our tickets and our food and we go into the theatre. We were early, so we just sit and wait for the movie to start.
"So..." He says awkwardly, sounding shy.
"What?" I giggle.
"Nothing, just trying to start a conversation." He replies.
"Oh." Is all I say.
"So, you and James are back together." He says.
"Oh, um, yeah." I mumble.
"You don't sound happy about it." He inquires.
"Oh, I am. I really am." I say convincingly.
"You know, I missed hanging out with you."He tells me.
"Did you?" I ask. He nods.
"Yeah, I did. We were justing getting close when you got together with that guy from your school. And than you got back with James, and you never had time for me anymore." He confesses.
"Oh, I'm sorry." I say.
"No, I'm sorry. About that other day I mean. I know that I hurt you, and upset you really badly, and I swear I will never do it again. I promise Riley. I will never hurt you like that again." He pleas. He sounded so sincere. But than again, he sounded sincere the other day when he apoligized too. And look how that turned out! But this time, I think he really means it.
"It's okay Charlie. I belive you." I tell him. He smiles.
"So, can we be friends again?" He asks. I smile and nod.
"Yes, of course." I respond happily.
"Great. Oh, the movies starting."
We sit back and start watching the movie.
Eldon's POV
I sit in the back of the theatre so I can see Riley and Charlie, and where nobody can notice me texting James on my phone, filling him in on Charlie and Riley's little date.
JAMES-Do you see them?
ELDON-Yes
JAMES-What are they doing?
ELDON-Nothing, he's not even touching her
JAMES-Better stay that way...
Riley's POV
"I have no idea what's going on in this movie." Charlie whispers to me. I bite my lip as I try to contain my laughter.
"Pay attention, and you'll understand." I tell him.
"I'm trying. But I don't get it. I mean, why is the old blonde hair woman so determined to take control over all the fictions?"
"It's factions, not fictions. And just watch it!"
He sighs and turns his attention to the movie. A little while later, he looks at me again and grins. I giggle, smile back and than turn back to the movie.
Eldon's POV
JAMES-What are they doing now?
ELDON-Just watching the movie. Now their talking. Now watching the movie again. Charlie just looked at her and smiled and she smiled back and now their watching the movie again.
JAMES-That's it?
ELDON-Yes
I put my phone away and try to watch the movie, until I feel someone tap me on the shoulder.
"I'm going to have to ask you to leave." The theatre employee says.
"Why" I question.
"Because your cell phone is being distracting to others trying to watch the movie." He tells me.
"What?! No it's not!" I argue.
"Several people complained about it."
"It's not distracting! No one's even around me!"
"Well, your being quite distracting now!"
"I'm not leaving!'
"Yes you are, now come on!"
He hauls me out of the theatre, just when I get another text from James.
JAMES-What are they doing now?
ELDON-I kinda got kicked out of the theatre...
JAMES-You idiot!
Riley's POV
The movie ends and both Charlie and I stand up to leave as the credits start rolling. When I stand up I drop my phone. I reach down to get it just as Charlie reaches down to do the same thing. As we both lean down, our lips brush.
"I'm so sorry Riley!" Charlie exclaims.
"No it was my fault! I'm sorry!" I shriek.
"No, it was my fault! I'm sorry! Please don't tell James! He'll kill me!" Charlie pleas. I nod.
"Okay, let's just pretend it never happened." I say. He nods.
"Yes. It never happened at all." He replies. I nod again and than we walk to his car in awkward silence.
