James's POV

Me and Riley stood side by side as we watched the duet before us. I have to admit, it was pretty good.

"They're good." Riley comments, practically reading my mind.

"But we're better." I smirk at her. She rolls her eyes and looks away.

"Riley, you can't stay mad at me forever." I say in a hushed tone.

"I know. But let's just see how long I can." She mutters.

"Don't act like this Ri." I mutter back.

"Why not?! I'm nothing to you anymore, so why should you care? Why should I care? Hm?" She huffs.

"Riley-"

"It's not like you love me anymore!"

"Riley-"

"So why. Should. I. Care?!"

I grasped her shoulders, sweeping her in roughly into an even rougher kiss. It's not long before she pushes me away though.

"That's why you should care." I say before another word crossed her lips.

She just stares at me with those big brown eyes. She looks sad, heartbroken, and destroyed. She just looks down and fidgets with the ring she has on her finger. I look closer at the ring.

"Isn't that the ring I gave you?" I ask, a light chuckle coming out as well.

"Um, yeah. It is." She mumbles.

I gave Riley the ring for her birthday. When we were together for the first time. It cost me a fortune, but money was no object when it came to Riley. When we broke up the first time, I would have assumed she had gotten rid of it.

"I wouldn't have thought you would have kept it." I say softly. She shrugs.

"What else was I supposed to do with it?" She inquires.

"I don't know." I shrug. "I just didn't think you'd want it anymore after..."

I trail off. She knew what I was talking about.

We watch as the duet finished up. They end, and than me and Riley are called to the stage.

Riley's POV

Me and Charlie's duet was a very deep contemporary dance. But me and James changed it a bit to fit his style a little more.

We perfect everything. They moves, te tricks, and even the lift that me and Charlie couldn't do.

As the dance came to an end, I'm breathing heavy and so is James. We stand in a close position. I almost have to fight the urge to kiss him right than and there. Almost.

James's POV

We stood on the stage with the rest of the teams as the winners were announced. Me and Riley stood side by side, but we weren't holding hands. When I had tried, she pushes my hand away.

"What are you doing?" She had snapped at me.

So far, Michelle came in second with the female solo. Eldon came in first in the male solo. Giselle, Thalia and Amanda came in first with the trio, and Chloe, Daniel, and Hunter came in third with their trio. Now was the duet.
