Chapter 41

Riley's POV

I get home from dance and start to get ready for my date with Charlie. I had asked him where we were going, so I would know what to wear. He told me we were going to a late night movie. It was plain, and not very special, but since it was with Charlie, I was okay with that.

I shift through clothes in my closet, looking for something to wear, when I get a text.

JAMES-Hey babe

RILEY-Hey

JAMES-Wanna hangout

Typical James. I know he knows that I'm going out with Charlie tonight. He's probaly just trying to make me feel guilty, or make me bail on Charlie or something.

RILEY-Forgetting something...

JAMES-Oh yeah. You got a date with Charlie...

RILEY-I'm sorry

JAMES-Whatever

Okay, now I know he's trying to guilt me.

RILEY-I said I was sorry. What else do you want from me?

JAMES-I don't know, I'm sorry. I guess I just don't want you around him.

RILEY-Yeah, I know...

JAMES-Why don't you come over after yours and Charlie's little get together?

RILEY-You refuse to call it a date, don't you?

JAMES-Yes, now answer my question!

RILEY-I guess I can come over

JAMES-Perfect!

RILEY-Okay, I need to get ready now.

JAMES-Fine, I love you😘

RILEY-I love you too😘

I shut off my phone and tossed it on my bed. I love James, but it's annoying how mad and jealous he's being over this. Yeah, Charlie kissed me before, and also slapped and punched me, but I think I can hold my own for one night. And we'll be in public, so it's not like he can do anything to me than.

I pick out a pair of skinny jean, a loose knit sweater, a red infinity scarf and riding boots to wear. I just finished my makeup when I get another text.

CHARLIE-I'll be there to pick you up in ten minutes😉

RILEY-Alright

I grab my purse and run down to the living room and wait. In less than ten minutes, I hear Charlie knocking at the door.

"You look amazing." He comments when I open the door.

"Thanks." I reply, blushing. He reaches out to take my hand, but I quickly cross my arms. He looks disapointed, but I don't care. He leads me to his car and I get in.

"So..." He says.

"What?"

"Is James cool with this?" He asks.

"Um, I don't think so." I murmur.

"I figured he wouldn't be." He mutters.

"Don't worry about him." I tell him.

"Yeah, your right." He shrugs. I look in his direction, and say sternly,

"As long as you don't do anything you know you shouldn't do, we will be able to end this date perfectly fine. Got it?"

"Whatever you say." He chuckles. I check my phone and see that I have a couple texts from James.

JAMES-Hey baby

JAMES-Riles?

JAMES-Oh, you must be on your date with Charlie now😒

I sigh and angrily text back

RILEY-Hi, and yes I am. Don't act like this again!😒

JAMES-Sorry 😔

RILEY-It's okay 😘. But I need to go now, so I'll text you later

JAMES- Okay. I love you baby 😘

RILEY-I love you too 😘

James POV

I dial Eldon's number after I stopped texting Riley.

"Hello?" I hear after a couple of rings.

"I need your help with something right now." I speak into the phone.

Riley's POV

I shove my phone back in my purse.

"Everything alright?" Charlie asks.

"Hm? Oh, yeah." I mumble.

"Was that James texting you?" He questions.

"Yeah." I reply, sounding annoyed. He looks over and flashes me a cute smile.

"Just enjoy this night with me, and forget about James for once."

A/N:Sorry about no updating in awhile. And again, I apologize for any spelling or puncuation mistakes. I wrote this chapter on my tablet, which also doesn't have spellcheck, and it's touch screen which makes it a whole lot worse. And I also finished writing this chapter at 1:15 AM to be exact, so don't judge! Xo
