"Put her on my bed, now!"

"Okay, I got it!"

Marcel barely laid Anne down before he was shoved out of the way by Klaus. He searched her body for any lingering injuries from the last couple of days, something that would result in someone as powerful and resilient as she was, getting knocked out. Frantically, he asked, "When did she pass out?

"About twenty minutes ago," Marcel answered. "It was right after she—"

"Twenty minutes?" Klaus raged.

Marcel threw his hands up in defence, "I didn't know what was happening, I tried waking her up, and when she didn't I brought her straight here."

Klaus put a hand on Anne's forehead, feeling no sign of fever, the cause behind her unconscious state becoming more and more confusing. Outside of the Abattoir, Elijah had just finished saying goodbye to Hayley before she left for the Bayou when he heard a raucous from inside.

"It all happened in an instant, no warning, just a headache and then—"

"What's going on?"

Klaus turned to Elijah, but he could see his brother's eyes were already set on Anne, his mind swirling with frenzied possible answers to his question.

Rising to his feet, Klaus started pacing and interrogating Marcel for more information, while Elijah—freshly wounded by Hayley's earlier death, resurrection and recent departure—strode to where Klaus had been and knelt beside Anne. Her hand was dangling off the side of the bed, fingers slightly curled and palm open. Hesitating, Elijah reached for her wrist and checked for a pulse, finding the strangeness of touching her to be a curtain to draw back before hearing her heartbeat.

"She has a pulse."

"I know," Klaus snapped, "It's the 'why is there a pulse but not consciousness' that I'm concerned about."

Elijah paid no mind to Klaus' attitude, remembering instead that Anne had been staked and bitten all within minutes of each other. He glanced at the hole in her shirt, hovering a hand over the tear before lifting it up slightly above her abdomen, revealing the healing remnants of a nasty gash.

Klaus observed his brother's hands, watching where his mind might have gone to.

He felt Klaus' eyes on him, so he put Anne's shirt back down and reached up for her eyes, peeling the lids back and noticing her extremely dilated pupils.

Frowning, Elijah asked, "How long has she been out?"

"About twenty minutes or so," Marcel spoke up, walking to the door to close it. "We were having a drink at Rousseau's, and she got a headache and fell to the floor. She was screaming in pain, and when I tried to help her up, her eyes looked... glazed-over, and her voice changed."

Klaus tilted his head, "Her voice changed?"

"Yeah, it was weird," Marcel shook his head. "She sounded like a man, and then she said something..."

"Said what?" Klaus badgered, "What did she say?"

"I don't know, it wasn't English!"

Klaus sighed and rubbed his face, but Elijah prompted, "What did it sound like?"
