REAL LIFE!
A car crammed with four people really didn't seem like it should be uncomfortable- the car seated five people, so naturally, there should have been plenty of room. But when you factor in the fact that Bea was driving, Eva was cuddled in the passenger seat, and Jaiden was sprawled all over the backseat, making Khalil glare at them as he tried to fit in the backseat as well, it made a lot of sense. Eva was holding onto a picnic basket, giggling to herself as she played with Snapchat filters, and Bea was trying to keep herself from being distracted by the hooligans in the back.
"Jaiden, I am going to cut you. Was that your foot? What the hell?" Khalil's voice raised in punctuation, and Eva stifled a laugh. A thump came a second later, and the blonde craned her neck to see the backseat, where Jaiden had rested their foot on Khalil's head and Khalil had pushed it off, almost sending Jaiden tumbling to the floor.
"Jai, put on your seatbelt!" Eva exclaimed, shaking her head dramatically. Jaiden grumbled some words of disagreement, but they did as told. Khalil nodded in triumph as Jaiden straightened up in their seat, and Eva returned to the front of the car, hearing Bea laugh.
"What?" Eva tilted her head, and the brunette shrugged.
"Your friends, your family... I love them. It's cute."
"We aren't cute!" Khalil tossed something at Bea's head, and Eva laughed as the piece of wadded paper landed in her lap.
"I don't know what he's talking about, I'm adorable." Jaiden's words evoked a scoff from Khalil, and Bea and Eva found themselves almost doubled over laughing as the two tussled.
"Bea, eyes on the road!" Eva swatted at the brunette, and Bea rolled her eyes in response, saying, "I'm paying attention! We're almost there anyway, E."
"Okay, okay." Eva laughed, and if either one had looked in the rearview mirror right then, they would have seen Khalil and Jaiden shaking hands in a bet.
A few minutes later, they piled out of the car and into a park, Jaiden making a dash for the swing set as soon as they could. Khalil sighed and chased after them, leaving Bea and Eva to set up the picnic.
Eva grabbed the picnic blanket off the top of the basket, unfolding it and shaking it out before setting it on the grass. Bea, who was busy undoing the basket's lock, looked over and tutted, shaking her head. Eva gave her a confused look, and Bea's only response was to pick up the blanket and move it under the shade of a tree. Eva rolled her eyes, but there was an amused smile on her lips as she pushed open the basket lid and started laying items out on the blanket.
"Did you seriously bring In N' Out?" Bea asked, holding up a bag of food with a raised eyebrow. Eva shrugged, waving her free hand toward Khalil.
"He's a picky eater." At her words, Bea mouthed 'oh,' nodding as she sat the bag to the side. In a few minutes, they had their picnic set out to their liking, and Eva whistled at the others. "Jai, Khalil, food!"
"They're like dogs," Bea whispered as she took a seat next to Eva, and the blonde nodded in agreement, running a hand through her hair lazily.
Within moments, their food was almost demolished by the four teens, and they found themselves happily going back for seconds before turning their attention to the playground.
