REAL LIFE!
Eva hated parties. Even if she was a rising pop star, she had always felt sort of out of place in the shining and shimmering world of fame, and this party was no exception. Her best friend, Hanna, had dragged her to it, and she couldn't possibly say no. It was for the release of Hanna's latest film, The Kissing Booth, and Eva was personally obligated to be there for her dear friend. That didn't stop her from hating the event, though.
She sat at the bar of the club they were in- a eighteen year old friend club- sipping a non-alcoholic cocktail with disdain. Hanna was off talking to some other guests, having the time of her life with her costars, and honestly, Eva didn't blame her. It was her night to live it up, and Eva would support her any way she could. Unfortunately, that meant sitting alone in a room of people she barely knew, staring boredly at her phone.
As she watched a video of a dog dancing on Instagram, a girl sat down next to her, a small smile on her lips. Eva barely took note of her, liking the video and moving on. The girl sighed, tucking a piece of hair behind her ear and ordering a Coke before turning slightly to Eva.
"Hi," she greeted, and Eva's gaze flitted up to her briefly as she replied, "hey," and then returned to her phone, clearly uninterested.
"I'm Bea." The girl tried again, leaning closer to Eva. This time, Eva looked up, her breath mildly catching in her throat. Bea was beautiful, and not in that cliche way that authors try to describe girls from a boy's perspective. She didn't have eyes like oceans or full of secrets. No, her eyes were dark, and they had dark bags under them that were thinly veiled with concealer, which most likely faded from her night out. Her hair was somewhat of a disaster from dancing all night, and her lipstick was completely gone from all the time she had drank something. Bea was beautiful, and Eva had a feeling that she wanted to get to know her.
"Eva," she replied, turning her phone screen off and flipping it over so she couldn't see the notifications. "Nice to meet you."
"You too! So, what are you doing at a party like this? You're clearly not having fun." Bea raised an eyebrow with her statement, and Eva shrugged in reply before pointing toward Hanna.
"See the brunette beauty? She's my best friend and the lead actress in this movie, so I'm here supporting her. Unfortunately, she's momentarily forgotten about me."
"Ah yes, the beautiful, elegant Hanna Shaw, I know her vaguely. I wrote a song for the soundtrack, that's why I'm here." Bea rolled her eyes, thanking the bartender for her drink with a smile before sipping it. The change of emotion caught Eva momentarily off guard, but she brushed it off quickly.
"Mm, you're a singer? So am I." Eva attempted to carry on the conversation, though she doubted it was actually good. Bea chuckled, nodding.
"So how do you know Hanna then?" She asked, and Eva took a deep breath, glancing over at her friend before letting her gaze rest back on Bea, noting the freckles on the other girl's cheeks with a grin.
"We met through an ex-friend. She was really problematic, but I got Hanna out of it, so I'm cool with that."
Bea nodded, and the two fell into a momentary silence before Bea turned to Eva, a mischievous look on her face.
"Do you want to go on an adventure?"
"An adventure?" Eva looked at her doubtfully. "What kind of adventure?"
