TWO YEARS LATER!

REAL LIFE!

Eva was excited. She stood, bouncing on her heels, at her mirror, assessing her outfit. A soft sweater, a pair of ripped jeans, her favorite ankle boots. And on her hand, a ring. Not an engagement ring, not at all. She and Bea had only been together for two years, and they were in no position to get married or even propose it. No, the ring was a promise ring, given to her on their second anniversary.

Bea had been shaking all day. It was subtle, but Eva knew her long enough to know it meant something serious. She was getting really worried, but Bea kept brushing it off. What if Bea was going to break up with her? And on their anniversary, too?

"Bea. Bea?" Her girlfriend was getting ready for their date, but her hand was shaking hard enough that it was too difficult for her to put on eyeliner.

"Yeah?"

"Are you breaking up with me?" Eva asked, her voice dead serious. Bea dropped the eyeliner, ignoring how the liquid dripped down her white dresser. Yikes, that would stain.

"Why would I ever? Especially on our anniversary. You don't think that low of me, do you?"

"Of course I don't! I just- you're shaking, and you have been all day, and I've never seen you shake this bad, and I'm getting really worried and I just-"

"Relax. Baby, seriously. I love you, and we're not breaking up." Bea put her hands on the skin above Eva's elbows, massaging circles with her thumbs.

"Promise?"

"I promise. Pinky." Bea held out her pinky, and Eva laced them together. They shared a smile, and Eva nodded after a second.

"We can go to dinner now."

"I know. Let me finish getting ready first." Bea pressed a kiss on Eva's cheek, going to clean up her mess.

When they got to the restaurant, everything was going spectacularly. They were laughing and talking, but most importantly, they were enjoying each other. It was nice to be alone together, without any fuss. No paps, no fans, just them.

"Hey, I have something for you," Bea said suddenly, making Eva startle.

"What? I thought we agreed no gifts." She raised an eyebrow, and Bea shrugged.

"It's important to me. I just- Open it."

Bea slid a box across the table gently, and Eva took it slowly, cautiously. Bea nodded at her, and she eventually got the nerve to open it. And when she did, she blinked, looking back up at Bea.

"What are you...?"

"It's a promise ring. I just... want to promise that I'll be here forever. You can't get rid of me unless that's your prerogative. I'm just here to stay, alright?"

"Yeah, alright. I love you." Eva smiled that smile of hers, the one that said 'I love you so dearly, I'd shoot the moon from the sky if you asked.' And Bea smiled back, repeating those three little words.

The present was less daunting. It was Eva, going to Bea's album release party on a Saturday night. It was a nice, subtle touch, to have it on a Saturday and not a Friday. After all, Bea had written half the songs about her, or with her. It just made sense for her album to drop on the same day she met the love of her life.

The party was light, breezy. Eva felt comfortable for once. After all, everyone was there- Elliott, Jaiden, Khalil, Georgia, Corey, Alice, Kimberly. Everyone important in their lives was there to support Bea, and it made Eva smile. It made it easy for her to breathe.

There were no plans that night. No explicit details. No proposals, no presents. Just a party to honor Bea, with Eva proudly by her side.

As far as Saturday nights go, it was pretty damn great.
