"So your mom?" Bea asked, playing gently with Eva's hair. It was three am, and Eva was half asleep as they watched a movie that neither of them actually cared about.
"What about her?" Eva glanced up at Bea tiredly, and Bea chuckled at how beautiful her girlfriend was.
"She's talking to you again?"
"Yes! She apologized to me, she's trying to make amends with Jaiden, and I'm just... relieved. I knew she wasn't like my dad." There was a happiness in Eva's voice that couldn't come from anything other than her mother's approval.
"Good, baby. I'm glad." Bea kissed Eva's forehead, smiling as the girl drifted to sleep.
