"Are you going to be alright?" I worriedly looked at Liam sitting next to me on the plane. His right leg was bouncing up and down and his hands were shaking. He was looking a little pale compared to his normally golden skin.
"Uh, yeah. I told you I was going to need some calming down," he chuckled nervously.
"You were definitely right about not being a good traveler, but haven't you like flown this before?"
"A couple times, yes but I still haven't gotten used to being on a plane. I can only think about the worst case scenarios like getting stranded or the plane crashing," he shrugged. "I just can't help it."
"There's such a small chance of that happening though. You're more likely to get in a car accident than a plane crash." I didn't quite understand his fear, but I didn't want to be judgmental. Everyone had different fears and no one should be made fun of because of them. "Ok, anyway let's talk about something else so you don't focus on being on the plane," I suggested.
"Like what?"
"I don't know, anything," I shrugged. "What do you wanna talk about?"
"We could play twenty questions?" he suggested.
I laughed. "Isn't that a game that teenagers play to have an excuse to ask anything they want?" I had never actually played it, but I'd heard of it before.
"Maybe, but it'll help us get to know each other better and pass the time," he answered.
"Sure," I gave in, hoping he wouldn't get too personal. "You can go first."
"Favorite color?"
"Black," I answered.
"Really? Black?"
"What's wrong with black?"
"Nothing," he held his hands up in defense. "That's just not what I expected. I thought you would say pink or purple."
"Why? Because those are 'girl colors?'"
"Just never mind. Ask your question," he groaned.
"Favorite childhood memory?"
"When I was younger, my parents owned a lake house and we would go there in the summers. I was friends with the kids next door and I was devastated when we sold the property. What about you? What's your favorite childhood memory?"
I wished that he had asked something different. My childhood wasn't all that great, and I shouldn't have asked that first. I thought for a moment, trying to figure out something remarkable. "I think I was about five and my dad took me to the county fair. It was my first and only time going. My mom was working, but my dad had the day off for once. He told me wanted to do something special for me because it was just us that day. It was so unlike him, but I had been so excited. We rode rides and ate cotton candy. He won me this stuffed monkey at one of the games and I slept with it until I graduated from high school, which is really embarrassing. I left it at my mom's house, but I loved that monkey to pieces."
"Logan," Liam started. "What happened?"
I shook my head. "It's my turn and I want to ask you if you still have feelings for Danielle," I was close to tearing up from the memory. I hadn't thought about it in so long. Usually all of my thoughts were negative toward my dad.
"Honestly, sometimes I think I do, but then I remember how badly she hurt me. I don't want to be in a relationship with someone who purposely hurt me like she did. I would be always so scared that she would hurt me like that again." Liam sounded sad, but happy at the same time. "Now, please tell me what happened with your dad. Why is it that you seem so sad when you talk about him?"
I shrugged. "There's not much to tell, I guess. He left my mom and I when I was thirteen." I decided to leave out that I saw him the other week for the first time since then and he has a brand new family now.
"I'm sorry. You probably hate me because I talk about my family quite a bit and my parents are still married and we're all so close."
"No, stop Liam. I like how close you guys are. I wish that I grew up with that."
We went on, going back and forth for a half an hour. I was now leaning on Liam's shoulder, feeling rather sleepy. He hadn't complained about flying for awhile and I was happy that he was calmer.
"Go ahead and fall asleep, you sounded extremely tired for the last five questions."
"Mmkay," I murmured, closing my eyes. I was worried that Liam was getting the wrong idea by me laying on his shoulder, but I was too tired to move. Liam repositioned a bit to be more comfortable. I fell asleep quickly, feeling calm with him next to me.

"Hey, Logan," Liam shook me awake gently. I opened my eyes slowly, adjusting to the now somewhat dark plane. "Time for dinner," he gestured to the plates in front of us.
"What time is it?" I asked, looking out the window at the dark sky.
"Around six New York time, but I'm not exactly sure where we are. We land in a couple of hours."
"Wow, this is going by pretty quickly," I sat up, stretching my arms above my head. I unwrapped the sandwich in front of me and took a bite. "Sorry for sleeping on you," I told him awkwardly.
"Oh, don't worry about it. I hope the root beer was ok for you. I remember that's what you ordered when we went for dinner."
I felt my cheeks reddening and my heart melting that he remembered. "Yeah, thanks. It's my favorite."
"So, where are we staying? I forgot to ask that. Do I owe you for a hotel or something?"
"No. We're staying at my parents' house. There's an extra bedroom for you and I'll stay in my old room. My sisters don't live at the house anymore, but the party will be there."
"Ok," I nodded, glad for my own bedroom. If we stayed together it would be harder for people to believe we weren't a couple.
Two hours later, we were exiting the plane and walking to baggage claim. It took quite awhile for our luggage to come around on the conveyor belt.
"Come this way," Liam grabbed onto my hand and pulled me closer to him. "There's always taxis out this door," he explained. He rose his hand, calling one over once we walked outside.
The driver stepped out and placed our luggage in the trunk. I slid through the door after Liam and buckled myself in. He rattled off an address to the driver, who programmed it into his GPS.
"It's only about a twenty minute drive," Liam explained. "Everyone should be sleeping when we get back, so you'll get to meet mom and dad in the morning."
I nodded, feeling overwhelmed. I was scared about what his parents were going to think of me as well as his sisters. I was never one to meet families, I never had many friends. I liked keeping to myself, but I knew I couldn't back out now. I watched out the window for the remainder of the ride, taking in my surroundings. It was a beautiful city.
"Liam?"
"Yeah?" He placed his hand on my thigh, causing a shiver to run down my spine.
Instead of asking whether or not he thought the city was beautiful, I looked up into his eyes which were as dark as the night. A stroke of confidence overcame me as I suddenly kissed him, not thinking about what would happen after.
