Druv's POV

All the employees must have already went home. And here I am still working, when there is probably no other living being left inside the FCC building. I'm hell tired and super sleepy.

Now, all I want is to finish this email as soon as possible and snuggle in my bed.

I concentrated back on my laptop, typing briskly, as I finished the last email on hand. Suddenly, I felt like someone sneakily opened the door behind me of my cabin. I turned around, glancing at the door.

No one.

The door was closed and there wasn't a single person on sight. I turned back to what I was doing. Great, I finally lost my mind because of all these overtime.

I finalized the mail before pressing the send button. And then suddenly.....

"Boo!"

I jerked back on my chair, pressing a hand over my heart as it threatens to jump out. But as I abandon my laptop, it jumps off the desk, attempting a suicide.

Never have I ever been this grateful for the technology that builds the hardware of laptops this sturdy. I breathed a sigh of relief as I witness my lappy landing safe on the floor.

I glared up to a laughing Avni, "What's wrong with you! I almost broke my laptop!"

She continued to laugh, disregarding my anger, as she sat beside my chair. "You should've seen your face! Such a scaredy-cat!"

I huffed and decided to let it slide off. I picked up my laptop, reassuring its safety and finally closing it down. "How come you're here?"

"Oh, I had some meetings with the stylists over Ryan's wardrobe, which turned out pretty much to be a gossip party. And as I was coming back from there, I saw the lights of your office, so I just thought to check on you." she said with a mocking smile. "But why are you here so late? Shouldn't you be home by now?"

"All thanks to Ryan, I had to write an email to the Broadcast Office giving an excuse for the skipped show...yet again." I sighed.

She hummed in response. "But actually, I'm really thankful to Ryan for keeping you stick in the office and making you wait for me. Otherwise, you would've been went home and snoring like a hippopotamus by now." She happily jumped off the chair, as she tucked at my arm, "Now, let's go."

I eyed her, "Hippopotamus?" I didn't stood up from my chair, even when she tried to pull me up with more force, "I'm offended."

"In that case, I should be more offended. Because that'll mean that I'm dating a hippopotamus right now, which means no human wants to stay with me." She finally managed to pull me up. "But you're the most handsome hippopotamus I had ever seen in my life." she smirked.

"I doubt I could count it as a compliment." I tried to act serious, but that little smile on my face betrayed me.

"You're welcome. Now, let's go!" she chuckled, as she tried to drag me out.

"Ah! Wait, wait." I hurriedly packed my laptop and the files, as I shoved the purse into my pocket and grabbed my overcoat, before heading out of the building with her.

The night streets were really calm, and the street lights illuminating the way, was calming it further. No horns, no traffic-jams, no road-side vendors shouting. Just the soft music playing on the stereo inside the car, and Avni softly humming to it beside me, as the outside scenery holds half of the building's lights and half of the silvery night sky.
