Ryan's POV

The clock ticked its way to 2:00 AM and Moon was nowhere to be seen. I kept sitting in the couch on the living area, unable to feel at peace. The house was as silent as graveyards. The dimly light hallway wasn't making it any better either. Our neighborhood had been long fallen in the folds of the night. At a distance I could hear street dogs bark, but still no sound of any car on my front way. As the seconds tick by into minutes and then into hours, my anxiety grew too.

Finally, I heard the car pull over our garage and it took all in me to not hop into the door and start investing her right away. Within minutes, the keys jiggled and the door opened to reveal Moon. She looked at me with those eyes that spoke that she is just too tired. I couldn't help but walk up to her to engulf her into massive bear hug. I felt her sigh and loose herself. She wrapped her fragile arms around my neck, holding me close. If not for me, she would have fallen to the ground; she left herself that loose. I didn't dare to ask. Not when I felt a tear drop on my shoulder, where she had her face nuzzled.

I bent slowly to pick her up and carried her to the bedroom. She didn't say anything, just kept her face nuzzled to the side of neck. Whatever, wherever she went, didn't turn out well definitely.

I carefully placed her on the bed. She kept crying silently, cuddling to her side. I kissed her head, finally daring to surface my voice to ask her, "Tell me?"

"I met Mrs. Merchant." Her voice cracked, "She called."

"Mrs. Merchant? Bincy's wife?" I froze. What did he do again?

She gulped, trying hard to calm herself. She sat up, holding onto my hand, "She shot Bincy that night." Her voice was hardly audible.

"WHAT!?" I don't get it. Mrs. Merchant shot her husband. "Why?" I had my brain failing me.

She took a deep breath, "When at the party, Bincy had me dragged out and asked me to be with him. And there, it turns out, that Mrs. Merchant overheard us. And after we came back home from that party, Mrs. Merchant asked Bincy about me and all this shit going on."

I held her hand tighter, feeling something worse coming. She continued, looking down at our entangled fingers, "They fought over me. Mrs. Merchant asked him how he can possibly leave her, and he took out a gun out of nowhere, and threat to shot Mrs. Merchant. They pushed and pulled and among the chaos, Mrs. Merchant shot Bincy." She let out a shaky breath.

Tears re-emerged from her eyes; I pulled her close to engulf her in a comforting hug, drawing circles in her back. I closed my eyes. Things never sort out, do they?

"It's all because of me. I destroyed the whole family. That lady's suffering because of me. What had I done?" She continued to cry, muffling it on my shoulder.

"It's not because of you. Bincy destroyed his own family. You hadn't done anything." I kept saying, but Moon, as I know her, always takes blame on herself for everything happening around her. I don't know how much I can comfort her. "Hushhh..." I cooed her.

"She's turning herself to the cops. She was scared, but when she learned that I became one of the suspects, she felt guilty. Now, she'll turn herself. Meaning, she will also tell everything about me and Bincy and all." She meeked.

"It's for everyone's betterment, Moon." It may sounds selfish, but I want Moon to be out from all this and as soon as possible. The girl already suffered a lot.

She didn't say a word further, just kept holding onto me, I didn't complained either. Somewhere in between the night, she fell asleep in my arms. I tucked her into the blankets, as I loosened her hair from the ponytail.
