beep... beep...beep

I opened my eyes to see white walls, a white bed, and somehow I'm in a white gown. I look to my side where Conner is resting on a small couch. As I look at him though he wakes up coming to my side. "How ya feelin?"

"Okay I guess. What happened and why am I in here though?"

"You had a bad stomach pain and that's why were here. You ha-"

"Hello ms. Taylor. I see you're awake. How are you feeling?" A nurse interrupted him.

"Good I guess. And it's Mrs. Jenkins." I said smiling to Conner but he still had a sad look on his face.

"Would you like to meet-"

"yes" I answered quickly. She grabbed a wheelchair and helped me into it. She rolled me down a long hallway and to a door that said NICU. Why? My baby's in the nicu?

"Here they are. Beautiful boys." She said standing in front of two very small babies. They could probably fit into my palm the were that small. They lay in a incubator hooked up to wires and stuff.

"Nurse. I only expected one. You've got a mistake." I told her confused.

"Darling you didn't know? You had twins. Congratulations." With that she walked away.

"Conner?" I asked tearing up. "Are both of these babies ours?" All he could do was nod as he stuck his hand into the small hole. He grabbed the small hand which couldn't even wrap around his pinky it was that small.

"This is Mason James Jenkins. This one doesn't have a name." He said putting his hand in the incubator next to him. Mason had dark dark brown hair like his father. The other baby had light hair like mine.

"Bentley." I told him after looking at the small baby for a moment. "He looks like a Bentley." I whispered to him.

"Bentley Cole Jenkins?" I nodded agreeing to the name.

"How big are they?" As I asked it my voice cracked.

"Mason is 4.3 pounds, 17 inches. Born at 12:49 am. Bentley is 3.9 pounds, 16¼ inches. Born at 12:51. " he whispered.

"They're so small. Are they healthy?"

"The doctors said they are completely healthy just underweight. They truly are miracles." I agreed with him. I stuck my hand into the incubator that Bentley was laying in and rest it on top of his head and began to pray for their health and safety. I then did the same thing to Mason and I winced as I turned to face him. "You had a emergency c-section. You're stomach is going to hurt a little bit."

"Did you call anyone?"

"No it's only 1 in the morning and you weren't even awake yet. I wanted to make sure you knew before anyone else did. I should probably call my parents though. It's 4 there. And I'll call Adam and Kate and your dad and Lexie an-"

"Conner." I stopped his rambling.

"Baby are they going to be okay?" he sounded like a little child the way he said it and it almost made me break down.

"Yes." I said yes but even I didn't know if that was the truth. He came to me on his knees and began to hug me, his head laid on my chest. "Conner I love you."

"I love you too Lindsey."

"Mrs. Jenkins? I'm sorry but I'm going to have to escort you back to your bedroom so you can get some rest." Rest is the last thing on my mind right now but I knew that I wouldn't win that fight. Conner walked next to me to my hospital room and lifted me onto the bed then climbed in himself.
