Chapter 12

So now that everyone knows I'm pregnant because of brayden we decided to have like a pregnancy announcement. We struggled to agree on something though. We were most definitely going to take a unique picture but we didn't know what kind of theme to do. Kate had suggested Conner wore a thing 1 shirt. I wore a thing 2 shirt, and then I lift my shirt up and paint thing 3 on my stomach where the baby is growing. I thought that was cute but I didn't feel like that was the one. Adam had an idea that we'd have a picture of heels, military boots, and then baby shoes.

"Adam, Conner's not in the military. You can do that for when you and Kate have kids." I winked but Kate and Adam blushed, while Conner and I laughed at their sudden change of mood.

After a couple moments Conner comes up with an idea, "Cowboy boots."

"Oh lord I already know what Linds is gonna say." Kate says rolling her eyes.

"That's perfect...." I told him. I love the country honestly. I have horses (my favorite) and other farm animals back home. That would be a very cute picture, I don't know how I didn't think of it. We wanted to get it done so we got in the car to go get his boots. Once we pulled out he turned on the radio and on came the song wanted by: Hunter Hayes.

We came to a stop light and Conner looked over smiling, "As good as you make me feel

By now my face was pure red and I couldn't help but smile. A car honked from behind us and we realized that we were holding up traffic. He started going and I had to look out of the window to keep from staring at him. That was just the perfect moment and I wish i could've stayed in it forever. A few minutes we pulled into his house and I stayed in the car while he ran to get his boots. When we pulled in I saw Brayden's car which is the reason I decided to stay in here. I want to wait as long as I can to see him. A few minutes later and Conner came jogging out. He started up the car and we pulled out again.

"So where we going? We've gotta go to a baby store to get the baby boots." I asked him.

"I've lived here for almost 3 years and everyday I go to school I pass a baby store. We can go there..." he suggested but kinda trailed off at the end. I looked at him confused but he kept looking straight at the road so I just said okay and he turned up the radio again. After only one song we were at Sweatpea Children's Shop.

"Conner! How've you been? I haven't seen you since you know..." A lady, looking to be around our age, behind the register said coming toward us. What does he know? How do they know each other? I'm so confused right now.... I'm having minduments.

"Been good." he mumbled.

"Well is there something I can help you and your friend out with?" she said clearly awkward from the conversation.

He didn't speak up so I walked in front of him and said, "Yeah were looking for baby cowboy boots..." It's like he completely forgot why he was here. Danielle, the girl's name tag had said, started walking toward the back of the shop. I started to follow but when I looked back Conner was stood still, staring at a picture behind the counter. It was him, and a girl. They looked really happy with the biggest smile on Conner I have ever seen. There was a little plaque underneath the picture that read-

"In loving memory of a great worker. Forever missed, Coralynn Myers"

She worked here. He didn't just pass this place on his way to school. This was his fiance's work. I looked over at him and he was staring at me and when he saw me look at him he quickly looked down. I grabbed his hand and brought him closer to me and wrapped my arms tightly around his torso. He put his hands around me and nestled his head right in between my neck and shoulder. We stayed there just hugging for at least five minutes. He finally pulled back and we went to find Danielle who we were supposed to follow. We found her smiling in the aisle of little baby shoes. We picked out these really cute but simple dark brown newborn cowboy boots. We had to pick something simple because dark brown could work for either a boy or girl. We were checking out when Danielle pulled me aside while another lady checked out the boots.

"I just wanted to tell you that I'm happy Conner got to meet you. I prayed hard after Coral died that'd he'd find someone else and you guys are too cute together. I also wanted to send you a picture I took," she said starting to get embarrassed. She held out her phone and displaying on the screen was a picture of Conner and I standing and hugging from when we first got here. It was truly a cute picture if I shall say so myself. "Sorry I came back to see why you guys didn't follow me and I saw you guys and it was just too cute to pass up on a picture." She said cheeks red from embarrassment. So that's why she'd been smiling like that when we walked to the shoe aisle... I gave her my number and once I had sit in the car I felt my phone vibrate and I saved the picture and also set it as my lockscreen background. I looked out the window and looked at the girl looking back at me and smiled. I typed thank you into my phone and sent it back to her. It was a short ride back and we just listened to the radio. When we got up there, there was a white sheet half hanging up and half spread out on the floor. Adam was sitting there with his camera as well taking practice shots for the lighting. We were instructed to sit down with our boots on and our legs spread out towards the camera. Before he could even push the button I popped up and ran to my room. I had an idea that we had to do for the picture. I grabbed a paint brush and and bottle of white paint and ran back out to where a confused Conner and Adam sat. I took my boots off and painted December on the bottom of one boot, and 1994 on the other. I took Conners boots off, "What's your birthday?" I asked him.

"July 30th 1993?" So I did the same thing to his boots. July on the bottom of one boot and 1993 on the other. He noticed what I was doing and smiled, so did Adam. I guess this was a good idea. Lastly I took the baby's boots and thought about it for a second. He or she was conceived on August 29, and 9 months from that is......

"It's be the end of May." Conner told me before I finished thinking about it. Honestly, I was surprised he payed attention to dates and stuff.

"Thanks" I replied and then painted May on one boot and 2015 on the second. Once I was done we put the boots on carefully so we didn't mess up the paint and then had to lean up the baby's boots to where the camera could see the writing. After a couple times, Adam said he'd taken the perfect picture and that we were done. When he showed us the picture I had to disagree. I mean yeah don't get me wrong, it was very good but the perfect picture was the picture Danielle took earlier. I hadn't shown Conner the picture but why bother. Kate walked out of her bedroom and walked over to us and 'awed' towards the picture, then asked us if we wanted to watch a movie. We all agreed on another Kevin Hart movie and started it up. Half way through the movie I was already starting to get sleepy. I cuddled up to Conner on my couch and my eyelids slowly fell. Right before I went out I heard, "Linds is already asleep? Damn." Obviously Adam's voice but I smiled after Kate said, "It's cause she's pregnant." Conner kissed my forehead and then I was out.

I woke in Conners arms. He was carrying me bridal style and walking me to my room. He laid me in my bed and covered me up in my blanket.

"You leavin me?" I yawned half asleep.

"Yeah Linds, I gotta head home. You know, since I don't live here." he chuckled. "I'll see you at school in the morning. Go back to sleep now."

"Alright.." I mumbled drifting asleep again.

Conner thought I was already asleep, "I love you Lindsey." Then once again I was out like a light. But let me tell you, that night I slept better than any other day in my whole life.
