Today, Ash and I are going to the library and do research on how America was, I don't think there will be much in detail but it is worth a try.
I am currently walk to Ash's apartment to pick him up, I memorize where he is so I could walk to his place with my eyes closed.
I am scared about what I will find about America, and the development of The Society. What if my great grandfather didn't just suggest the idea of the new governing system, what if he killed hundreds and thousands of people just to get what he wanted.
Hopefully he wasn't a killer, because I feel like that would make me a killer too, or that killing people is in my blood and I could do it without feeling any guilt.
I close my eyes and shake my head, instead of hoping for things to not happen I should probably be thinking about things that most likely did happen.
Possiblities are endless, so until I get to Ash's house I just list a bunch of ideas.

When I get to Ash's apartment I knock on the door and he answers almost instantly, "Finally! What took you so long, I have been waiting almost ten minutes! Thats nearly double the amount of time it takes me to get your house! Whatever let's go." He says and it seems like he just had a short conversation with himself.
I nod and we walk to the library together, "What do you think we will discover about America?" I whisper so nobody around us can hear.
"I don't know, hopefully nothing too bad. Besides the fact that crime rates were at 93% from 2074 to 2093 when the Society was formed."
"What is the crime rate at this year? I haven't checked since I was thirteen." I say.
"I checked the other day, it was about 3% and lowering. I wouldn't be surprised if it was around 1.5-2% now." He answers.
"If America ever comes back do you think the crime rate will go to below one or go back to 93%?" I ask.
"We should do research before we want it back, it could have been the worst government ever."
"It couldn't have been that bad if it lasted from 1776 to 2093, thats 317 years, which is a lot longer than The Society, it hasn't even been together for 100 years," I say. "If the government was that bad The Society would have been around a lot sooner."
"That's true, but we should read up on it before we make any final asumptions." Ash says and I nod, because he is right.

After a while of walking we finally get to New York's largest library.
We walk to the section that is labeled, Society History. We look for a book labeled America but there isn't one on the shelf, so we look for one that could have information of the years leading to the Society's creation.
I find one called Making of the Society and start reading hoping that it will have some information.
THE SOCIETY was formed after years of conflict and crime in a country whos name is unknown to the Society.
The conflict was caused by rebellion in 2073 (read more about conflict in 'Reasons to Make The Society') President Cicely belived that the rebelion was encouraged by young love and heartbreak.
Hearkbreak causes people to act out and do things they do not mean to, causing more violence, to add to the rebellion. Because of this Cicely decided that, like drinking, love would have a minimum age limit.
Eighteen was chosen as the minimum love age limit because they have been full citizens of The Society for two years and is most likely ready for a mature relationship.
"I found nothing. We already know everything written here." I say to Ash sighing.
"What are you looking for? I may be able to help." The Librarian says while walking up to us.
I look over to Ash to see if he thinks it's okay to tell her and he nods, "We are looking for books about America." I say while whispering the word America.
Her eyes widen and she gestures for us to follow her and we do.
We walk to a room in the back full of books, "Whats all this?" Ash asks after she closes the door behind her.
"These are the only books in the Society that mention American history." She says smiling.
"How did you get all this?" I ask in amazement.
"I am very old, so I have my resources," She answers smiling. "and call me Maude, please."
I nod then I start looking around for books to read, Ash and I are going to spend the entire day here so there is no rush.
