"Jessamine wake up." I hear Ash say while shaking me slightly.

"Is the power back on?" I whisper.

"No, but I think it's a good time to leave." He whispers back.

"Where is Iris?" I ask.

"Right in front of you she says waving a small light around." She says.

"Where did you get that?" I ask.

"I found it, and I found a bigger one, and a first aid kit." She says sounding proud.

"Are we leaving?" I ask. "Are you sure nobody's outside waiting for us to get out?"

"We can't know for sure but we can't stay here much longer." She answers.

"Got it, but how are we going to get out? What if they turn the lights on?"

"That's why we are going to crawl." She says.

We get together a small plan that seems good enough to be able to escape alive.

"Building clear--the refugees are nowhere in sight." Says someone outside. "Send troops to scout outer cities, along with hidden and abandoned buildings. Power still extinguished."

Iris, Ash and I are practically holding our breath until we here departing footsteps, when we no longer hear them anymore we all exhale and pant heavily trying to catch our breath.

"That was close." I say shaking.

"Very close, too close." Iris says and I would think in this situation she would be shaking her head.

"It's going to be cold tonight, while Iris was asleep I over heard the officers saying that it was going to be in the forty's tonight." Ash says.

"That's freezing!" I exclaim. "We can't go anywhere because we are considered refugees now! What are we going to do?"

"We will be okay, we could just huddle up or steal the officers jackets." He suggests.

"Good idea, we should get going now." Iris and I say at the same time.

"Okay, come on." He says grabbing what I think is the guns and passes us each one.

"Follow me." Iris whisper while she opens the door.

We all get on fours then start to crawl out slowly.

I hear her set off a gun shot them remove something--which I hope is the guards jacket.

We keep going then we hear fast foot steps, "Iris." I say unsteadily.

We get up and she shoots them both as she shoots them both then quickly grabs their jackets.

"We have to go." She says panicked then we run as fast as we can to the front of the prison.

I have a nervous feeling at the pit of my stomach remembering that I will die by a gunshot wound today if we tried to escape.

All I hear are shouts of the inmates and the sounds of our footsteps.

My heart is pounding so hard and loudly I can barely hear my own thoughts.

Everything is going well until I hear a loud blood curdling scream, I look around to see who it came from, but then I realize who it was from.

It was coming from me.
