May 1st, 2015, Sokovia.
Natasha Romanoff POV.The red hair caught my eye before the jet even landed. It was the reddest hair I've ever seen and something in my head just told me "maybe it's Niki," and I just had to find out. I haven't seen red hair like that since 1951.
I had to get everyone on the jet and off of this island but I needed to make sure that she would be alright. I called Tony over and asked him to keep eyes on her from above. He was one of the only people who knew about Nikita, other than Clint, and he had no problem with it.
As I was loading the jet I saw Ultron and some bright auburn hair flying along with him. Just as fast she was flying up, she was falling down. I screamed for Tony into my mic and he grabbed her about five feet from the ground. My heart stopped but he saved her. She broke out of his grasp and crashed on to the ground.
"NIK!" I shrieked.
-
A bit later I saw her in the crowd trying to get on to the ship and I was relieved, I lost her earlier. I couldn't leave my post to go help her, but I desperately needed her to be okay, even if it wasn't her. She brought back so many memories and I felt like I needed to be there for this girl.I saw her about to step on to the jet but then turned around and ran the opposite direction, what the hell was this kid doing? I really had no choice except for one. I grabbed a piece of metal and smacked her in the side of her head with it, she fell to the ground but I could get her on the ship this way.
-
Everyone was on board and all the chaos was over, it was time to go home. I had the girl placed in the cockpit and I finally had a chance to go see her. Clint came with me and I sat down next to her. Her hair was almost the same colour as mine, just more vibrant and her eyes were a familiar green. Clint never met Nikita, but I know she would've liked him. He wasn't like Alexi. We left her alone and when we landed back in New York, Tony brought her inside to the hospital floor of the tower. I really hope I didn't hit her too hard, it didn't seem like it but she was just a kid.
I realize now that it probably isn't Nikita, let me explain. Where we lived in Russia, in Stalingrad, it was not a good area. War raged and bad things were everywhere. A twelve year old on her own never could have survived to be 76 years old, and, this girl doesn't look a day over 20. She looked like a young adult, no younger than 15 but not older than 25. She wasn't a kid and didn't need protecting, but I needed her to stay alive.
