I was seated on the bed with the devil placed in front of me. It was the letter by Roop that I had avoided opening all long. I know I shouldn't pay heed to Myra but I think I am. If I think of this scenario from a third person's point of view, Myra and I are on the same boat. We both love Abhaas, we really do. We loved him back then as well. The only difference was that Abhaas spoke to me and avoided her. Isn't it unfair for her? Just because he spent time with me doesn't make me the better lover. Who gave me the right to look down upon her? Abhaas ignored her love but that doesn't mean it is invalid. Her love is as valid as mine was, mine is.
If I advise her to get over him, so should I. What if one day he does come back? What if he's been waiting for me and we really come together to be with each other forever? But what if he comes back; not alone. What if there's someone else slung by his hand? Am I needy enough to see him like that and still wait for things turn over? I can't be that much of a pushover. Maybe, what he has with some other girl is way better than what we could have. I can't ruin that for the sake of my love. He never did tell me if he does love me, nor did I!
What about that phone call we had? All we spoke were our names and a lot of deep breaths. He does miss me, however he misses me as a friend. Not as love. I'm not his special someone and I might never be. I need to give importance to those who are here waiting for me than wait for those who may never come back. Open the letter Ahana, just go for it. Roop is a nice guy and for once you know he really really likes you. He might me the future you are looking for, the future that is one letter away.
I didn't know how but my hands worked their way through the cover and the letter was open for my naked eyes to read it.
It read-
To,
Dear Ahana,
I can't believe I'm finally writing this letter to you. Ahana, you may not know but you've thrown me off my feet and in love with you. I still remember the first time I saw you, you were sitting in the garden area, going through a really big book. The way the wind was caressing you face and was teasing you by the soft curly hair strands that landed perfectly on the side of your cheeks; god I was jealous of the wind. Back then I was practicing on the field and for the first time in my college life, the basketball fell down from my grip. That's when I knew I had fallen for you.
Everytime you smile, every time those rosy soft lips of yours curve up into that beautiful enchanting smile, I forget how to breathe. From your looks to your smile, everything is as desirable as is a flower to a bee.
I'm sorry I was being creepy leaving those roses for you everywhere but can you blame me for not being able to stay away from you. And now that I've gained enough courage to write this letter, I might as well ask you if you would like to be my girlfriend.
Will you be my girlfriend?
From,
The lover of my Rose, the only one, Roop.
I feel that I just read a whole chapter from some romantic play by Kalidas, or was this Vatsayan's Kamasutra? Wait I'm forgetting Shakespeare here.
This guy is whipped! How well does he write and don't even get me started on his guts. He spoke with me in the party all the while thinking I had already read his letter. Normal humans will get jittery and nervous in such cases, considering the fact that he had been so honest with his feelings and so kiberal with his description. But as much as I remember, he was blushing, smiling and talking sweet. Kudos to his confidence!
Yet the question remains unanswered, will I be his girlfriend? Am I ready for such a change, to give that special place to Roop Upadhye? I think I should give him a chance. This isn't that bad an idea especially when I'm trying to get over Abhaas. Roop is a good guy, just needs an opportunity to prove himself.
My phone started ringing. It was Yash calling me.
(A- Ahana, Y- Yash)
A: Heya! Good morning.
Y: Bad morning to you too.
A: Oops! Something is not going right there. What happened?
Y: I correct you sentence to everything is going wrong. For starters, my Dad and Ulka's dad are not pleased with Ulka and I sharing the company. Secondly, they have threatened me that if I don't comply, they will take away the firm from me. And third and most important thing, your best friend Ulka is the least supportive being on Earth and I'm questioning my desire to help her.
A: Lot's happening. Okay, what do you think we should do about Ulka? Do you want me to talk to her?
Y: Yes you can, but she might disown you.
A: Point. I can already imagine her angry face if and when I tell her that we both are in contact.
Y: Well, I have a plan. I'm having a small get together at my place. My parents are out and only close friends are invited. Can you bring her here so that we sit down with her ‘Together’ and speak?
A: You can send me the guest list and my agent will check it for potential terrorist and maniacs.
Y: Ahana!! I'm talking serious business here. I assure only three of my friends are coming. You alone can take down two guys and then there's Ulka to help you. So the chances of you getting caught in bad situations are negligible. Moreover I'm inviting two very someone specials for you so it's a win win. Please don't say no.
A: Okay, we'll be there. I'm trusting you Yash and you better have things planned and smooth. One mishappening and you are dead. Message me the address.
Y: Thank you! I'll message you right away and the place is an hour away so leave in time and reach before dark.
A: Yes sir!
A newfound task at hand Ahana! Guess my Roop Upadhye has to stay on hold for some time. I ran downstairs and out of the house. If I need to convince Ulka, I need to start early.

“Ulka please!! I'm begging you. The guy is really irritating but I need to be there so I need you with me.” I was being a whiny little kid today.
“Who are you and what did you do with my sane friend Ahana?” She gave me a dramatic wave of hands. It has been almost half an hour and this girl is taking way too much of time to get convinced. She continued,
“Why don't you take your new friend Myra? You can start shooting for your own ‘mean girls’ movie there.”
I gave her the best annoyed look I could ever have and said,
“Why are you being so hard on me? It's just a stupid party!”
She said,“Exactly! It is a stupid party. You can handle that thing alone.”
"Are you insinuating that you would rather stay home and chill but won't come to support me in the middle of those fools? Is that what I get for all these years of friendship?” I asked her.
It was followed by some silence.
“You are not going to give up, are you?" Ulka asked me.
“Nope. Not accepting defeat." I replied.
“Okay. We'll go." I thanked god from the bottom of my heart and hugged Ulka tight. Finally she's coming and finally things are changing in her life for better.
“I'll be here at 2 pm and we're travelling by taxi. Be ready.” I announced and left.
Back home I packed my bag with some essentials, spare clothes and cooked some lunch. By the time I was done getting ready, it was hardly 10 minutes to two. I hurried my way out and for once, the sunshine was very pleasant and energizing.
I could feel some positive energy running through my veins as my skin soaked up the sunlight. I saw a tiny butterfly exploring the beauties of it's life, the mere sight of that insect urged me to follow it. When I went behind it, I came near the flower blossom pit and noticed something.
Standing alone in the middle of all brown mud was a delicate flower. It hadn't even bloomed completely but finally there was a life in my mini garden. All these things happening filled my heart and soul with so much of positivity that I was ready to face anything now, I knew I could solve Ulka's problem, help Ishaan with his and maybe even get over mine. A new chapter was enfolding, something beautiful was happening, and I was ready for it!
