I entered the college gates rather determined. Today, I did not opt for the less taken corridor which took me to the literature departments but instead, I followed the main corridor where students with happening social life and rarely occurring lectures were. This was the corridor for people who wanted others to see them, drool over them, get jealous of them and of course get in a relationship with them. Anything and everything that happens in the college happens here.
You could see all kinds of posters on the walls here. The student election, upcoming events, graffiti of tiny hearts with an arrow through it that was supposed to be the symbol of eternal love of so many A, B, C, Ds . Moreover, this was the very corridor where I had my fight with Sampriya and where I met Roop for the first time.
I moved to the very spot with lockers on the walls, where I was going to be punched and hit by Sampriya. There, I found a group of guys just standing and joking with one another. Yes that's the same group I had been searching for. Especially the particular Hazel eyes that didn't took a second to find me. He straightened his jacket and walked at me ignoring everyone.
"Can we talk?" I asked him.
There was a wohoo from the group which I conveniently ignored. Honestly, this kind of behavior is better off in youth centric movies. In real life, it is highly juvenile and not even remotely cool.Roop turned around and mouthed something to his friends who laughed in return.
Weird!!
He gestured me to move ahead and we went to the garden area which was next to this corridor. There I spoke,"I read your letter."
I don't know why am I doing this. Am I so needy to get over Abhaas to go behind some hot college guy? As a matter of fact, I am standing here talking to him. So maybe I am needy."You read the letter? Well, what say?!" He asked me.
"It was really sweet of you to write that and I'd like to think about it."
There. I said it. Just vomited the words in one go. Be proud of yourself Ahana, you did one thing you might regret the rest of your life." That's great! So be my girlfriend."
Whoaaa, hold your horses dude! Girlfriend? I won't trust you with my chocolate bar and you want me to be your girlfriend! See, I had warned myself. I'm regretting this already.
"It will be weird committing in such a hurry." I tried to reason.
"Firstly, I hardly know anything about you and secondly, you hardly know me. So why not try and be friends first. Let the feelings develop on the way."
I could see displeasure written in bold on his face."Okay, we can say that we're seeing each other."
He commanded as if he just passed a law with a red stamp. My problem is I've never really been in a relationship. So what to term which stage of relationship was still a big puzzle for me. On the other side, he seemed extremely experienced. My bad, I should start searching for encyclopedia of love.
" We can?" I asked.
He didn't answer my question and instead placed his hand over my shoulder and pushed me back in the corridor.
"I'll introduce you to my group."
Can this get anymore uncomfortable than it already is? God what is happening! This thing is like an unwanted business deal but if I don't go for it, I'll continue to cry for the lost deal that I'm never ever recovering. We reached the big group of guys who had suggestive smirks on their faces and were constantly looking between Roop and me. Roop introduced us, and I don't recall a single name. But the attributes, yes that I can tell. There was one guy with a significantly mild smile on his face. I think he'll be the only one I talk to other than Roop.
Then there was this bulky guy who looked more like a walnut than a human. When we shaked hands I wanted to scream with the kind of steel grip he had. Then this really tall guy, I wonder how many times he hits his head on the doorframe. Then a pair of twins, they reminded me of Fred and George Weasley.
