The colours of sundown were slowly enveloping the whole sky. The cool breeze of twilight was tickling the curtains on my window and they seemed to enjoy it. Inside my room, I was standing before the mirror, looking at my reflection.
The chocolate brown full length piece that I was wearing had China collar effect around my neckline, with a sparkling water-drop diamond structure just below it. The dress hugged my body at the right places and flared into a fish cut down from my knees. Everything was perfect. Except one.
I was attending the farewell with Roop. He would ring the doorbell any moment now. It's not like I hate him but he's been extraordinarily imposing for the last month or so. Though I was back home studying for boards, he would drop by frequently and expect me to be with him.
Today however, was another story. He called in the morning telling me how beautiful the day was. Why wouldn't it be? He was going to propose me to be his girlfriend today. I'm not sure about any affirmative reply because I don't like him. Yet, as much as I try, I just can't gather up the courage to say that in his face. It is like a blanket of nervousness covers me up the moment I'm in 10 meters proximity of that guy. I find myself doing everything that he says most of the time.
Inshort, apart from the study part of my life, I listen to everything and anything that he says.
The doorbell rang. Robotically, I lifted my clutch from the bed and looked at myself in the mirror. I was wearing a red lipstick, something I was told to do by Roop himself, I wasn't wearing any eyeliner because he hates it. Even my hair were hanging down when they could've been in an elegant bun. But they weren't because he liked it this way. Honestly, this person in the mirror was anything but me.
I opened the door and Roop looked at me right into the eyes. How foreign are the Hazel pools to me. I can't believe there was a time when I found them friendly.
He said,
"You look beautiful, but do you mind changing that?"
He asked me as if that was the easiest thing to do.
My dress wasn't even revealing with high neck and dress reaching my feet. Though the dress was body fit, it didn't look like I was a sack of onions. I spent an hour following his standards and now he wants me to change it? Ahana say something! Ask him why is he being so demanding?
You have to remember that you are not committed, you don't owe this to him. Just say that you are wearing this no matter what because you're done listening. Tell him how difficult it is for you to keep up with his whims and fancies. Just speak, don't care if he's angry, you'd rather stay home than attend farewell with such an egoistic moron.
"I'm sorry. I thought you'd like this. But it is too late to change now, can we please just leave? The next time I wear something I'll ask you in advance." I said that.
Yes that, exactly those pitiful words that just killed the feminist in me. I'm being a pushover for him and even fuelling his ego. What have I done to myself. I guarantee none of my friends are going to be happy with this. I know even I'm not happy with this.
Yet I'm seated in this car with Roop on the wheel.
Yet I'm attending the farewell with a guy that I detest.
Yet I know I'll be proposed by him in front of everyone.
Yet I know that the answer I give will be regretted for the rest of my life.

The college hall was decorated with a big disco ball and a lot of pink purple fairy lights. As soon as I entered I spotted my group with Nihav, Yash, Ulka, Ishaan and Snehal.
SNEHAL!!! My dear God she's here!!! I soon found myself walking straight in their direction.
A strong pull stopped me from my tracks and twirled me around.
"What are you doing?" Roop asked me.
For the second time in hardly 2 months, this guy is holding my wrist really tight. The last time he did that, it left a mark. I don't want one this time as well.
"Roop leave my hand, it is hurting." I practically peladed him
