The bell rang indicating that my last lecture was over. With an exhausted body and burdened mind, I packed my bag. Outside the classroom I was in the hallway when someone jerked me back and I ended up hitting the wall with my back at it.
Luckily for me, my head did not hit and I could process exactly was was transpiring infront of me. The figure of a girl came in my sight, the face very much known and now hated by me. It was none other than Sampriya. The drama was over for me, but she had another plan.
“What do you think you are doing?” I demanded rather angrily.
“I'm making you pay for your sins. You are such a heartless b**ch!”
I realized she had this planned. She wanted me to react angrily and create a scene. That way she gets to humiliate me infront of these people.
“Sampriya, let's be civil and talk in private.”
I took the first step towards a truce.
“Civil! Haha!! You costed me a friend and you want to be civil now? You are so cruel! An evil witch!”
“I insist we go in some class and talk.”
“Stop blabbering you b**ch!! What do-”
“ENOUGH!”
“You bett-”
“I SAID ENOUGH!”
Sampriya looked scared. Well she better be. When I ask you to shut up you just shut up. Nobody talks to me like this especially when that person is pulling a stunt pretending I was the one guilty.
“I had made myself clear the last time we spoke. That chapter is over for me. Trusting you was the biggest mistake I made and I'm still paying for that. So bugger off before I complain the authorities.”
“YOU!! You can't scare meh! You are heartless and nefarious. You left Kautuk depressed and wailing. How could I even think about bringing you two together? He's not had a single morsel since yesterday and it pains me to see him like this.”
I looked at her all dumbfounded. I wanted to give her some time to think about what she just said.
“Sampriya, are you sure about that?”
She scrunched her eyebrows. Yes, she's stupid. She didn't even care to plan this drama out.
“If what you just said is true then what is Kautuk doing in the corridor behind you?”
All eyes, including hers turned towards Kautuk. Sampriya looked like someone just found a skeleton in her cupboard. On purpose I called out to him. Surprisingly, he didn't even look at me.
He saw Sampriya all red and angry.
“Hey, I came to meet that girl Diya you told me about. When can I meet her?”
It was shocking. She didn't accept defeat did she? If not this girl then that, but I will find a girl for my ridiculously incompetent friend. What is he? A credit card, willing to be inserted in any machine available.
Now it was time for the showdown. I went closer to her, tapped on her shoulder and slapped her with my timelessly apt remark.
“Dude you are so fake even Barbie doll is jealous of you.”
The crowd gave a wohoo at my comment. To top this comment I raised my right eyebrow and gave her a riling smirk.
I saw her fist moving towards me and shifted. She didn't believe in verbal fights, did she? The other hand landed on the lockers. Oh god she really wanted me to get hurt. Unfortunately for me, she got hold of a cricket bat and I realised I was flat on the wall. I closed my eyes ready for a hit but it never reached me.
I opened my eyes a little and saw a tall physique standing in front of me. I heard,
“If you try to hurt her again, I'll make sure you never get to place a foot in this building. NOW LEAVE!”
That person sounded like he had all the things under his control. His voice had command and his personality demanded respect. That person turned his neck slightly, just enough for me to see the tip of his nose.
“Take care, rose.” He said and left.
“Hey! I didn't even thank you properly!” He didn't turn back. The crowd around me left for their respective work. Both the jokers were gone as well. For the first time in a long time, I had someone to hold my back. It felt strange though, like something was slipping from my hands. Was it my loyalty towards Abhaas? Was it?!?
