Chapter 30

Abhaas was driving the car and I was on the shotgun. We were on the way back home. Last night we cooked dinner together and had the actual fun time. Initially, our friends pulled us out of the kitchen saying they wanted to cook. But after a two hour spectacle of complete mess, all we had were faces covered in flour, fingers covered in bandages and the kitchen counter covered in pasta sauce.

Abhaas and I went back to the kitchen and by the time we were done it was 12 am.

No wonder the whole car was snoring except us in the front seat. Out of nowhere my phone started buzzing with messages. I opened the inbox and got the shock of my life. They were declaring results today. Oh My God. Results today. The scorecard was slapped in my face even before I had seen it.

When I told Abhaas about it, he reminded me of how scared I was when they had declared the 10th std board results. Good lord this was scarier.
“I'll come with you. Don't worry, I'm sure you've performed well.” He said as he held my hand in his warm one. Man I've missed this.

_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_

The car halted by my college and the whole group got down. Ulka, Snehal and Ishaan got their results online. Even Abhaas did. I could have done the same but we were already in college. Tara went ahead with Yash to see her results and I fought with all my might, the urge to run back home and hide in a blanket.

When I reached the notice board, I saw the marks. It was 90%. Such a phew moment for me! I was happy with my score. I turned back to inform Abhaas about it.

Where did he go?
He was standing right here. Suddenly Tara came to me, held my arm and started pulling me somewhere.

“What the hell Tara? Are you mad!"
I screamed.
"Trust me with this Ahana. It is about Abhaas."
She said and continued walking.

Within seconds, I saw a big crowd in the corridor by the lockers. I swear I hate this place, this corridor has some really bad memories for me.

As we neared the crowd, I heard a familiar voice, then another and dreaded the consequences. Yes, I was right. It was Abhaas, arguing with Roop. Yash was trying to stop him and Nihav was there too. He looked like he could punch one of Roop's friends right there. Poor Ulka, she was desperately trying to control Nihav.

I entered the mess with my back at Roop and my face towards Abhaas.

I said,
“Abhaas, enough. I understand your anger but this won't help. He just wants you to do something stupid so that he can get you in trouble. He's got contacts. Listen to me.”

" Ohoooooo, so Ahana Kulkarni has got a new toy to play with huh?”
That was Roop. Much expected.

I ignored him. Kept staring in Abhaas’ eyes and tried to reason with him as to why this was indeed a stupid idea. It was a trap to land us in trouble and I'm not letting that happen.

“Hey bro, what are you doing?"
That voice shocked me.
When I turned, I realised the shock was for all the bad reasons.
Standing before me was Kautuk Upadhye, the creep that wanted to marry me at the start of college. He reminded me of the stupid friendship with Sampriya. Guess what, I just realized that he's calling Roop an 'brother’. Two brothers creeping me out. Suits them.

“Look who's here." Kautuk remarked.
“Okay you shut up. You weren't even a part of this in the first place." I said all frustrated and angry.
" You know her?” Roop asked Kautuk.
" Yeah, she pretended to be interested in me and when I approached she just blew me away.”
That was such a big lie.

“So Ahana Kulkarni has messed up with me and my cousin brother? That calls for a revenge.” Roop said.

He took a step ahead and Yash blocked him.
“Dude back off." He said.
Yash was always a man of few words. Yet his words held a lot of weight.
“You try and touch even a hair on her head and you'll bear the consequences.” Ulka threatened him.
