"Why don't you let go and have some fun for once D." My best friend sighed whilst picking up the rest of her stuff from her locker.

It was summer break and seeing as next year was senior year, we were ecstatic. Well... half of we. By that I mean Rena was ecstatic. Rena and I were polar opposites but together we made dumb and dumber.

"You know I don't party. If I wanted to dance wearing practically nothing late at night I might as well become a stripper." I whined in reply glancing over to her pretty brown eyes.

Rena giggled at my response, her big brown eyes filled with the cute glimmer that I'd always admired about her.

"You know, Xander will be there." She said in a teasing tone causing my cheeks to feel hot as I blushed at her words.

"Fuck off Rena. You know just as well as me that it will never happen."

My mind went back to the last interaction I'd had with Xander and I shuddered in embarrassment. I was always a very clumsy person, and I never knew how bad it was until I was late for a class and fell down a whole flight of stairs. As luck was not on my side, Xander was at the very bottom of them walking by when I managed to roll right into him knocking him down as well. I learned that day, that gravity is a bitch.

At the sight of my embarrassment, Rena began laughing so hard at the reminder of just why I was embarrassed.

"It really wouldn't have been bad if you didn't say" She put her hands up in quotations, "I guess I've fallen for you." Oh Lord.

"Don't remind me." I muttered, blushing harder. We continued walking to her car as she laughed with tears in her eyes.

The second we got inside her Honda Civic, I stripped off my hoodie, revealing my scandalous tank top which dress code didn't allow me to wear.

As Rena began reversing the car into the parking lot a motorcycle zoomed right in front of her making her curse, slam on the brakes, and roll down her window.

"What the hell, Drake?" She growled.

Drake just glared at her and responded, "not my problem." Then he brushed his light hair out of his eyes driving around the car recklessly almost scraping the side which only angered Rena more.

"Idiot." She huffed and continued to drive out of the school parking lot.

I stayed silent, already knowing they were both rightfully tense with their past relationship. It was a long and very cliche story of the new girl coming to school shy and suddenly the bad boy comes in both ruining her life and falling in love. At the time, I just stayed in the sidelines supporting Rena until eventually their pride got the best of them and they were separated but now they use any excuse just to be near each other.

A grin spread on my face as I turned on the radio to the exact time Bohemian Rhapsody by Queen began playing and I looked over to Rena seeing how she was struggling to not smile and sing along.

"Is this the real life." I sung in the most cringy way possible then grabbed Rena's hand. "Is this just fantasy"

By the end of the ride Rena had given up on her silence and we both sung in a disturbing off-key unison which had me giggling and oddly brought my mind back to the party tonight.

It wasn't uncommon for Rena to beg me to join her at a party, but this time she was adamant that I went. I already knew I would go, I hated to disappoint Ren and this time she seemed super excited.

As the song changed to something by Sum 41 I checked my phone to find a text in one of my group chats from the town's rival highschool and laughed seeing the countless double chin pictures from my friend John and replied saying take a shot for every chin John has.
