The bright screen in my hands illuminated the darkness and I quickly glanced up to Aspen to see if he'd seen what was on my phone to find him busy looking around my kitchen.

I quickly turned off the screen with the message still open and placed my phone on the counter.

"So what do you want to watch on Netflix." I grinned.

"Netflix and chill?" Aspen wiggled his eyebrows.

Everything in me urged to hit him again but because he was sick; I resisted.

"How about no?"

Steam came out of the heated water that I took out of the microwave, and I dipped a lavendar tea bag into it swirling the contents around.

After finishing I put in honey and another round of sugar cubes into the steaming cup and placed it in front of Aspen who eyed the cup suspiciously.

"Is this witchcraft?"

"Yeah." I said sarcastically.

Instead of arguing, he took a sip and his eyes brightened in surprise but he quickly covered it with a smirk.

"It's alright." He muttered and I almost got offended.

"Watch it, Kingston!" I yelled once Aspen hit me with a pillow and tried to focus back on the tv.

It took us nearly 20 minutes to finally decide on a movie. Not because we didn't have the same taste, but because we shared the same indecisiveness. We eventually decided on watching American Pie 2 which truthfully wasn't my choice for something next to Aspen.

Halfway through the movie there was some naked girl on the screen and Aspen spent that time beating me with a pillow.

Stupid boy. Stupider pillow.

The pillow hit my face another time and before he could see me coming I jumped up and began pelting him with pillows placed around the living room.

"Take that, Aspen." I screamed while throwing another pillow. It took a minute to hold back my giggles at Aspen's dumbstruck face.

A smirk traced onto Aspen's features covering his shock and instead of dodging my throw; he lunged for my phone and grabbed it, running the opposite way.

"No! Give that back!!" I ram after Aspen but only managed to reach half the distance he could in the same amount of time.

He managed to run all the way up to my room by the time I was only at the bottom of the staircase. I groaned and ran up the stairs, already out if breath.

Once again, stupid boy.

"You asshat get back here!" I screamed and prepared to chase after him again when he finally came in my sight; but he was just staring at my bright phone with a frown.

Huh?

"What are you doing?" I asked, my eyebrows furrowing in the darkness.

He didn't respond and instead flipped the screen to show me what he saw and I nearly gasped as it finally hit me.

He saw the text from Daniel.

Not only was the pickup line there, but a new text message listed under it.

Last night was nice. Wanna hang out again soon? Also Rena sort of forced your number on me the other day. Something about not wanting you to die a virgin?

I was speechless.

If you looked up awkward on a dictionary it would show up with a photo of this moment.
