"Mom?"

When I called her, the man jolted back immediately seeming embarrassed. I should have been surprised when I saw that my mom wasn't embarrassed one bit but instead looked smug. I wasn't surprised, though. This was something I was used to.

A bright light flashed throughout the hall and her face was illuminated. I squinted my eyes to shield them from the bright light.

My eyes went over the man next to her and I had to hold back a gasp. The guy looked young. Like maybe two years older than me young. Freckles spotted around his cheeks and his eyes had a dim shade of brown. Wavy blonde hair shaped his face and seemed to glitter in the light. Something about his aura seemed friendly and I almost felt bad for the guy who was with my mom knowing she'd hurt him.

"Good morning dear. It's been a while, hasn't it? God, you look awful. I left you alone for five months and now you seem deathly pale." She shrieked in disgust making the guy next to her frown.

Oh, sorry. It's not like I've just seen my mom making out with someone who is half her age ya know.

"I- What?" I sputtered out.

"You would have heard it if you listened the first time darling." She scolded me and her arm wrapped around the man's as she eased herself into him.

Annoyance seeped into my emotions and I clenched my fist. "What did you come here for, mother?" I cut to the chase.

Her face morphed from neutral to annoyance. "I should be allowed to visit my own home, Delilah." She said, emphasizing my name making the word seem like so much more than a name.

"My question still stands." I firmly stated.

She scoffed and allowed her arms to tighten around the man next to her as she whispered something in his ear. "I'm here to introduce you to Landon, my fiancè."

I once had a pet dog named Landon.

Fiancè? I nearly fell back in shock. Disbelief inked through me and I furrowed my eyebrows.

"You're joking?" I asked with a hopefully smile and fake laugh. My whole world seemed to pause as her words just didn't seem to sink in.

"Don't be silly of course not. Come on! Let's go have breakfast and introduce you two." She fake laughed and grabbed London's arm and ran downstairs. Her mood seemed to do a complete 180 but I knew better. She was unhappy.

When my mother noticed my reluctance to follow her she tried to grab onto my arm and give it a tug. I didn't budge. Instead I scowled at her.

"Honey.. come on." Her smile which was faker than a Kardashian's ass faltered a bit.

"Its 3 in the morning mom." I deadpanned.

"The flights timing wasn't exactly ideal." My mom pressed and seemed to ignore my obvious discomfort of going with her.

"I'm going to bed mom. Goodnight." I flashed a weak smile before proceeding to enclose myself back into my bedroom.

When my door was closed and locked I sighed, sliding my back down the doorway.

My body shook lightly as I was overwhelmed by emotions that pulsed through me.

All this time without my mother and she's been spending it with some random man that oddly enough reminded me of my dog I had in the 4th grade.

I thought about all the moments in my life she had ran out wondered just how little she cared about me. My hands reached out to my face to find moisture leaking down my face.

Why was i crying?

Once I noticed the tears I toughened up and quickly found my composure. I frowned at the thought of myself crying despite the fact that I'd vowed to never cry again after I'd finally found my happiness. It wasn't uncommon for me to tiptoe around my mental health. Nobody understood just how fragile my mental state was.

The pain from my mother leaving all the time came back but did not distract me from the flicker of light coming from my window above my bed.

Curiosity filled me and made me forget my pain for a few seconds as I lifted myself off the ground and walked towards the light. My head peered over the headboard of my bed and I squinted to see what was there and gasped, my body shaking again.

The sight across me was Aspen's house which was brightly lit up by his porch light when everything surrounding it was covered in darkness. A new car sat in the middle go the road with its lights on seeming as if someone had just gotten out of it. Under the light rested two figures seemingly caught up what I thought was a passionate moment. One was very familiar and I saw their shoulders tense when the other touched them. The smaller of the two who looked feminine had one of her arms tightly wrapped around the man. Once my eyes zoned into the hair I noticed inky strands that I knew all too well to be Aspen. My stomach churned.

The girl was leading their movements and almost looked urgent as she did so. Something looked odd. As she turned them turned her face was moved into the light illuminating it and I saw Serena's seductive smile and my whole body froze. I couldn't watch more than the two seconds I did and I immediately turned around, rocking my body back and forth.

My lip quivered as I questioned everything I've done since summer began.

Serena was fucking right.

I'm so stupid.

I mean there isn't a book titled "how to avoid being bamboozled by a fuckboy 101" but I should have still known better.

He made me feel special but he probably made all the other ones feel the exact same way.

I'm just another one of his toys to throw back in the toy box once he's bored.

My mind wouldn't stop whirling with negative thoughts and I felt overwhelmed. I knew I was being overdramatic but regardless it hurt.

After everything tonight my emotions caused me to rapidly shake and feel cold all over. I could feel my heart beating inside my chest rapidly. The palms that I had resting on my calves began sweating and getting sticky.

Sounds of yelling came back from my window and I found myself drifting in and out of consciousness. My eyes fluttered closed but jerked back open for a second when I heard Aspen speak something along the lines of not being interested in something. The lights that shone through the window of my room dimmed after the sound of a car driving away echoed through my silent room.

As I felt myself falling out of consciousness I watched Aspen as he looked tired and brush his hands through his hair after yelling a loud curse.

The last thing I saw before going to sleep was Aspen looking up to my window with eerily blank eyes.
