Wet clothing was practically taped to my body and everything was cold, but I was also content.
The air inside the car wasn't tense, and I wasn't used to it. With Aspen everything was either too perfect or gone wrong. Right now, it's just tranquil.
Rain hit outside the car of the dark night making everything for me serene. I loved rain.
I didn't bother asking Aspen where we were going because I feared ruining the moment as if it was fragile.
While Aspen drove I couldn't help but stare at his sculpted face. Something about his eyes fascinated me every time I saw them. His eyelashes were thick and a tad bit longer than average. Even his eyelashes are perfect.
"Stop staring at me like you wanna jump my bones." He paused in thought then continued, "You know I'd love you to though."
Heat spread across my cheeks and I ducked down to hide my face letting strands of hair fall around the frame of it.
"You wish." I muttered the only thing I could think of and glanced out of the window.
"I don't have to, Angel." His voice came out husky and something tingled inside me at his voice sounding that way.
Instead of coming up with a coherent or smart response- I scoffed.
The rest of the ride was serene with the rain slowing it's pace and fogging around the car.
I almost got drowsy due to the calm atmosphere surrounding us. It feels like everything at this very moment is in balance and it's where I'm supposed to be.
Green letters glowed flashing "12:17" on the clock inside the car reminding me how late it is to be out.
"You aren't about to take me off to kidnap you, right?" I joked.
"If anything it'd be the other way around, princess." In the dark I could still see his trademark smirk.
"Lame."
When the clocks number moved to "2:02" exactly is when Aspen finally pulled into some area near a forest and turned off his car, leaving us both in the dark. Not even the clocks light remained to brighten our surroundings.
Without waiting for him, I hopped out of the car to be engulfed in the humid night air. The rain must have stopped a few minutes ago, but I didn't notice.
"Where to?" I questioned once I caught up to Apsen who had already started walking through a trail which was hard to spot.
"You'll see." Was the only response I got before he swiftly grabbed my hand and turned his walk into a slow jog.
Tingles spread up my arm from his touch and I felt myself get excited. I don't know if I'm excited because of whatever is at the end of this trail or because of Aspen's touch.
The misty air hit me as we ran making exhilaration race through me.
Between us there was an odd connection that somehow filled the silence.
Before I knew it, we reached a ladder under a sign that clearly said no trespassing. The ladder went somewhere underground and i could hear the sounds of water moving from the tunnel. Aspen walked to it and began climbing down. "Come on!"
"No way in hell am I going down there!" I shouted.
Long story short that involved lots of bribes and arguing, I went down there.
After reaching the bottom of the ladder, Aspen stood there with a smug look on his face that I could now see.
The place Aspen lead me to was a concrete made underground tunnel. Lights were placed in rows across all the walls glowing an orange hue. In the middle was a stream of water flowing.
