I blinked, completely dumbfounded.

What was I doing here?

The fact that he just called me Angel again had me longing for the kind of affection I used to have.

Being alone so long really made moments like this matter so much more.

My heart thumped much faster than it had been before, now I was frozen in place but on the inside a flurry of unfamiliar emotions succumbed me.

Somehow, longing was the emotion that made itself the most known. I longed to touch him.

My hands reached out in the air to feel him- to see if he was really here.

But as I got close, he flinched away.

Another piece of my heart shattered at the small motion of his. It was a reminder that we weren't what we used to be. I might never get that again.

"A-Aspen?" I'd snapped out of it. Leaning up on my elbows, the skin of my forearm caught on the gravelly road under me.

I'm sure this isn't the most hot moment of mine- I grimaced as the image of me with gravel and dirt flashed in my head.

That surely couldn't be cute.

The yellow spots in his eyes looked more prominent than ever as he watched me like something he'd never seen before. He seemed mesmerized.

"Are you hurt?" The concern in his voice hurt me to hear again.

Being around him was both familiar and forgein which I couldn't understand.

In person, it was prevalent that his face had gotten more sculpted, his eyes darker, and his lips looked softer. The curve at the top of his cupids bow had curved in an almost impossibly attractive way.

God had his favorites.

To answer his question, I sat up and ignored the blood trickling down my elbows.

Pain surfaced all through my arms and the back of my head as I groaned, reaching for the sore spot near my neck.

Panic spread onto Aspens features and it was almost laughable as I considered faking passing out just to scare him.

His arm snaked around my shoulders as he inspected my body for any injuries. To others it may have looked like he was getting a decent look at my boobs, but I just ignored that.

For the first time in years I felt like that stupid horny teenage girl again and wanted nothing more than his touch everywhere on my body. The thoughts left my cheeks heating up.

As Aspen took notice to my red cheeks, a smirk spread on his face.

"You haven't changed, have you?"

A frown planted itself on my face. I have, Aspen.

The only thing that hasn't changed was my growing infatuation with you.

Those words didn't come out of my mouth, though.

"Nope. I would say I've fallen for you, but this wasn't a willing thing. You made me fall for you, dipshit." I spoke to him as if we were teens again.

With my words, he seemed to be as affected as myself. A relieved sigh left my mouth before I could stop it.

Before I had any control over my actions, Aspen lifted me up with gentleness no other man had.

Our positioning was bridal style and that was enough to have my cheeks darkening significantly.

He smiled down at me softly. It was obviously thinking about a lot but stayed quiet.
