Present time...

Love is such word. It has multiple meanings and multiple versions. Yet, is a four-letter world. Which humans gave a big meaning. Love can mean a lot of things and it can be many things, too. Only yourself can give love the meaning you want.

Scott McCall had lived with different meanings of that four-letter word. He had seen those meanings come to life. It was painful and it was great. There were times when he wanted to throw the towel and some other when he wanted to shout to the world he would never give up. He had known love and he ached the feeling of being with someone.

Stiles Stilinski in the other hand, had never met that word. That simple word he thought everyone exaggerated with. That of course, until he met Derek Hale. It was the most simple and complicated feeling he ever had. And he didn't know if he needed or wanted to feel it. Because his meaning of love was to stick with someone until they're old and worn.

He had yet to experience the feeling of complete loyalty for the person he loved. He had yet to experience intense pain you go through for one person. The feeling of pride for whatever that person accomplished. He had yet to feel the brokenness of Derek. But when he will experience those meanings, he will know the real and worldwide meaning of love. That four-letter word.

And after a good, heartfelt dinner (next chapter will talk about that) he was ready to call it a day. But not everyone was. Scott was feeling very tired and achey. He had witnessed couples in the dinner. They were kissing, cuddling and even calling themselves pet names. And he ached that. He wanted some of that. He wanted to feel loved not just by his pack but by someone who wanted to live with him for years to come.

Stiles and Derek were on the couch. Just enjoying each other's company. Someone who never met them could clearly see they were deeply in love. And what more could they ask? Stiles had someone he could count on when things got tough, he had someone he shared his secrets and bed. Derek had someone who loved his brokenness and someone who would die for him.

"You know, I don't even know how we became a couple." Derek admitted as he cuddled with Stiles. "I felt something for you since the beginning. That's why I wanted to be always in the same room as you."

Stiles smiled. "I asked Deaton about it. He said that's a wolf's mate. Your wolf had chosen me before your human part realized. He also said he was very happy we got together. It will make us stronger and when I'll become an Alpha, you'll be the Second-In-Command."

"This past months have been hard, haven't they?" He shifted to see Stiles's face better. "And I'm sorry I started all of this. If I had shut up in the first dinner, nothing of this would have never happened."

Stiles shook his head. "There's no way we can know what could have been. It can be possible that what you're saying is true. But there's another possibility that it could've been worse. Don't worry. We can make it through. And Scott will, too."

Derek leaned on and they kissed. It was still a weird and strange feeling for both of them. But it was that good weird and that familiar strange. They just let their hearts go where they went. Derek had rough lips, almost as rough as him but that was balanced with the soft, almost graceful lips of Stiles. They danced with those of Derek and they danced gracefully. Both men were getting completely lost in the kiss.

"Stiles?" A horrified voice sounded.

The fox and wolf broke off their kiss and turned their back to the voice. And there he was. Scott McCall, his hair all disheveled, enormous bags on his eyes and a bottle of Whiskey on his hand. He had a horrified look on his face and his eyes showed hurt. He felt betrayed.

"Scott, you've been drinking?" Stiles asked carefully and concerned. If Scott has been drinking, his judgement could be clouded. And he didn't want to have a huge fight.

"Does it matter? You have been keeping secrets from me." He spoke with a certain slur.

Stiles then realized at this hour, everyone was asleep. Scott could do whatever he wanted to and wake up the next morning and nobody would be the wise. As far as Stiles knew, he could've done this many times before. And he felt partially guilty.

"Scott, I understand you're hurt but-" Derek began.

The Alpha's attention drifted to the Hale. He was looking at him with such hate and anger. "I trusted you, I told you I would try to be your friend. And you betray me like this!"

"Scott we were gonna tell you." Stiles said.

"When?! When I would forget all of you and I would be okay with this?! I specifically told you not to have anything with Hale. I told you that you and him could never be!" The Alpha was getting blinded by his own problems.

"Scott. You're my best friend and my Alpha but you're not my boss. You don't decide who I'll love and who I won't. Derek is a good boyfriend. He cares about me, he tries to care about you, he understands me and he knows what I've been through."

Scott threw the bottle at Derek and almost got his target if it wasn't because he dodged.

"What the Hell, McCall?" Derek demanded. "You could've blind me!"

"And it should had." The Alpha answered bitterly.

Stiles shook his head. "You're acting like a dick now. I didn't do this when you and Allison got together which was also prohibited because she was a hunter and you were a wolf. I didn't say anything when you and Kira got together even if foxes and wolves don't get along. And I certainly didn't do this when you got with my ex which was a were-coyote even if they hated wolves."

"They all left me, in the end." Scott shrugged. "Allison dead, Kira left and Malia-"

"-left because of you." Stiles finished.

"You need to shut up, Stiles. Don't go and say things like you know their backstories. All I ever done is for everyone's safety. And you and Hale cannot be. So, kiss a last time because we're leaving."

Derek was surprised. But he was gonna fight for what he loved. Like his father taught him. "No. He ain't going anywhere. You can pack your stuff if you're an homophobic asshole. You're alone because you're a bitter werewolf who didn't fight for what he loved. And you can stay that way but Stiles is staying here with me."

Scott looked defeated for a moment before launching himself to Hale. He tackled him and fell into the coffee table breaking it. He began fighting him. Clawing him and bleeding at the same time. Scott had never killed someone but in that moment, it looked like he wanted to. He was winning for a good time but then, he began to breathe heavily and to be tired.

He then remembered he had taken off his nasal cannula for an hour to drink. And fighting just accelerated the whole asthmatic problem. And by the time he didn't have any energy to fight, half of the pack was there.

He stood up and sat down on the couch to catch his breath. Lydia so kindly gave him his oxygen mask which he took gladly.

Stiles helped his mate stood up and was angry at his best friend. Whatever reason he had was not a good excuse to just attack someone.

"Leave." He said in a hard voice. "Scott, you better leave right now. If you don't want me to hurt you."

Scott looked up. "Would you kill me, Stiles?" He said incredulously.

Stiles gulped all his fears away. "For Derek? Without question."

The Alpha stood up and looked at both men before grabbing the oxygen tank and pushing people to get out of his way. Liam and Theo were the only ones who followed him. The others chose Stiles and that hurt Scott.

Derek took Stiles and embraced him in a hug because he knew that took immense courage and that would hurt.

Because sometimes love is choosing that person above anyone else. But that doesn't mean, it doesn't hurt.

So this is where we saw Scott act like a major dick but don't worry his actions will be justified later on. I'm sorry it took so much time but I was busy.

The person who gets the little reference I did there will get a shout out on the next chapter
