Five years later...
Stiles knew it was the dumbest idea he could ever possible have. Even Isaac said it and he had worst ideas. But it was the only one he had now, all of his 'divines' moves were out and he did not have any more goddamn ideas.
But he wasn't completly desperate. He talked with his husband about it and agreed to go together. So there they were, in an abandoned loft, three chairs and a table. In neutral ground. Stiles didn't like that idea at all, on his mind, Liam was still a young man with a sparke on his eyes, he wasn't the revengeful, cold-hearted murderer that had been going around town bringing chaos wherever he stepped. And he was afraid that once that memory was played with, he could never see Liam like he used to again.
When he entered, Stiles saw the change. The last time he saw Liam Dunbar was the day Scott died, the same day Liam declared himself a traitor and became a pack member of the Alpha pack. That day, a spark of his eyes died and was remplaced by something evil. Now, his spark was faded but Stiles could swear there was something still inside him. Something like Scott.
"Stiles." His voice was deep and almost like a growl, not the same voice Stiles last heard. "Thanks for meeting me." He smiled.
Stiles stood up, his posture diplomatic and he then, without any pinch of happiness, answered. "Given the... options, I had no other choice."
Liam sat down and laughed. "I see you still going on with Hale." He pointed out and smiled at the serious wolf. "How's all going, Derek?"
The Sourwolf looked at the fox before answering. "I been better."
"I bet."
Stiles sat down and cleared his throat. "When will your second-in-command join us?"
Liam's expression changed for a second. He wasn't prepared for that question but he quickly shook the surprise away. "I'm afraid he's gonna be late but don't worry, he'll come."
Stiles then went right to the point. "Why call us? Why now?"
Liam's face became serious. His eyes died down and his lips got dry. "It's been long, that's why. Too long."
"If that's your cheap excuse, then you better come back where you came from. We all know you don't care if we haven't seen each other in such long time." Derek contradicted. "You been to town and your pack has killed. My source told me you have nothing against that, and that's my problem."
"I finally get some attention, don't I?" Liam spat out. "Finally after living on everyone's shadows. I get some goddamn attention."
Stiles furrowed his eyebrows. "What you mean?"
Liam's eyes went red and his lips were ready to move but instead, he shook his head and bit his lower lip as if he was containing himself. "I don't want to get into details."
Derek shifted from his seat. "Why not? Why can't you tell us the real reason of your betrayal? You do remember that?"
Stiles took Derek's hand, this was supposed to go out smoothly, Derek needed to calm down. There were worst things to bet on that day.
"Why would you want to know? You never cared, you weren't even a part of my pack!" Liam sneered. "You hated him, you wanted him dead but even after that, he still tried to help you. When was he-when were all of you when I needed help in those days?! Either stuck with your new relationship or stuck in his death. I was left completly alone!"
Stiles wanted to get over that slight obstacle but Derek did not get the memo.
"That's a reason to go out and just betray your pack?! Because you didn't get enough attention? Because the Alpha pack was going to give you the love you deserved! Is that why you betrayed us?!"
Liam yerked up, his face red as well as his eyes, he could feel the nails of his hands grow longer and sharper, his teeth piercing his tongue, he could feel angry. "I never would betrayed him! They Goddamn lied to me! As well as you all did! Stiles was scared of losing his brother, well I was scared of losing my family again! I was utterly terrified of what was happening and none of you even cared."
"The day he got his asthma attack, my step-dad told Stiles only two people could see him. He immediatly thought of you, as you cared if he was alive, as if you wanted to see him be alright! Didn't pass through your dumb mind that I was waiting to see him, too?! That maybe, maybe I was more Goddamn important than your fucking boyfriend!" Liam shouted.
'I hurt him, maybe beyond repair', Stiles thought. 'But it still wasn't an excuse for him to do what he did. He couldn't just turn to the dark side because we weren't paying attention to him. There has to be more to this story.'
But before he could even begin to react. Derek stood up as well and shouted something that wasn't meant to be shouted.
"His name was Scott McCall!"
Stiles could see where this would end up, Liam always had a temper and seemed without an anchor. Just the little things could trigger his anger and he could do serious damage. Now, Stiles didn't know how the Alpha pack trained him but he knew it wasn't from love and caring words.
"Alright! Whoa!" Stiles stopped. "This is a neutral ground meeting. This is supposed to be for a peace offering. We are not gonna slash each others throats. Alright?"
Nobody answered. Derek didn't move from where he was and Liam was at the limit. It was especially him who Stiles was watching. One little move from him could end up being the worst thing ever. And the tension could be felt. Stiles needed to stop that before anything came to be.
"I just want one thing. And my pack can go." Liam's words were forced, controlled. Thought for many days, maybe even weeks. His hands were painted red and blood came out of them but he managed to control himself as he sat down again.
Derek saw the change Liam gave and decided to not be the child of that meeting, he gave an apologetic look to his husband before he sat down. Stiles finally breathed out and thanked Scott's ghost for being able to stop what could ended up as a declaration of war.
"What would that thing be?" Stiles began speaking in a professional way.
"I want what was rightfully mine. I want Scott's pack. I was second-in-command before he decided to give that power and responsability to you. And I want it back, I do not need my old pack mates but the rank, the title and the territory I do. And I want you or your little dumbass boyfriend to stay in my pack as a treaty."
"Or?" Derek made clear that they weren't gonna give him what he wished for.
"Or my pack continues killing people?"
Stiles look skeptical. "Or?"
Liam was losing patience. "Or you give me what you don't want to lose."
"And what would that be?" Derek asked.
Liam smiled again. "Nick McCall. Scott's son."
That symbol is the Aztec symbol of Anger and Liam's pack symbol.
And Scott has a son! Who knew? Actually me because I am the writer. Also, I told you guys that Malia was going to be in this book.
