Years ago...
Alex Hale was a simple man, he didn't overthink stuff like his wife did. He was a powerful Alpha but never took it like a excuse to be a tyrant. He didn't even want to be an Alpha, he liked to stay on the bench and just look at his older brother be an Alpha because after all, that was the rules.
He never expected his brother to give his power to him so soon, no one did. Joshua seemed the perfect man for the job, such a serious character and less social than Alex and very much traditional. But life went that way and Alex realized that it would be better to welcome life's surprises with a smile than a frown.
He changed things around when he became Alpha, he challenged the rules and broke a few, in good heart though. He was still young when he got the power and just like any young man, he was a reckless man. But that all changed when he met Talia Robinson, he fell in love with her but the problem? She was from an enemy clan and he couldn't fall in love.
Joshua reminded him that way too many times a day, he loved to remind his younger brother about his suffering. Alex knew he couldn't and he shouldn't because he had a duty to his pack first but the pull he felt with her was more than he could control. He needed her. He loved her more than the wolf loved the moon.
He was torn, confused and lost. He wanted to protect his pack, he didn't want to disappoint his father but he wanted to be with her. No one seemed to get that, no one except a guy. His name was Alan Deaton and Alex met him on his way to school long ago, back when he was seventeen.
The man was an emissary and he helped Alex a lot of times and he helped Alex that time as well. He told the newly Alpha werewolf about that pull, about that special feeling, he told him the true meaning of that. She was his soulmate and he was hers, if kept apart, they both could die. Alex could feel it already.
It took immense courage for Alex to tell his family about his bond. And not all of them took it the good way but Alex didn't care, if his father, brother and mother were happy, he was happy himself.
It took Joshua some time to finally realize that his younger brother and his Alpha was in love but in time, he accepted it. Alex's parents were more than happier to have a reason to end the feud that started with their grandparents. Some members of his family left because they couldn't bear to see a 'unexperienced' Alpha take over such a big pack. Alex shrugged them off and laughed their hate away, he was more than excited to go to the enemy clan and propose a treaty.
He was a simple man, indeed. He never stressed about the little things, he never asked for the power he obtained and he never abused from it, even a born werewolf could be afraid of turning into a monster.
He got married when he was young but when it's true love, you never have to wait. He decided to have a simple wedding if that was alright with his fiancée and she agreed with a smile, loving the simple and genuine kind-hearted personality of her soon-to-be husband.
He promised her the stars and the moon, he promised her to love her forever and he promised her to always be by her side.
When Talia told him she was pregnant, he was more than happy, he was scared and excited but he was unprepared, well he said. He always tried to do his best, making sure his soulmate had everything she needed and to make sure that the territory and everything was safe for his future child.
There was a man, named Rafael McCall who caused some problems in the town but nothing that Alex couldn't handle, he talked to the man and they both agreed on something. Rafael would get the town and Alex the forest and all surrounding it, no problems and it was all handled smoothly.
And when Laura Hale was born, Alex was the happiest man in the world, he threw a party for her and even invited the man he just met some months prior, that's how big his heart was. He gave the man the benefit of the doubt and smiled to his future. Because it was bright. Because it was his family.
