There were a number of cheap inns located in Ashtown, though a lot of them were located in the seedier districts. The inn that Caspian and the others had chosen was a not-quite-run-down place called the Prancing Pig. It was a two-story in with a tavern on the first floor and rooms on the second. From the outside, it just resembled a very quaint building that was in need of some minor repairs, with cracked walls, missing tiles, and several windows without glass. The inside wasn't much better.
Erica curled her lips in distaste as she cast her eyes at the rancid patrons sitting at tables and inside of booths. Most of them were already drunk. A number of those people sang cheery, off key tunes as they swayed in their seats. Alcohol sloshed from drinks and splashed to the floor. There were no waiters or waitresses in this place, just an old man who stood behind a bar, getting drinks for people.
Caspian walked up to the bar and waited until the old man to notice him. It took a few minutes. While the old man had already looked his way, he was busy tending to several other patrons who all wanted some ale. The old timer filled numerous wooden mugs with the frothy beverage and slammed them onto the table. Finally, after the last customer had gone, he turned to Caspian.
"What do you want?"
"Two rooms for one night," Caspian said. "How much?"
The old timer grunted. "That's be 100 drachma. 50 for each room."
While he didn't say anything, Caspian had the distinct sense this man was ripping him off, but he was honestly too tired to care. He paid the man 100 drachma, received two keys, and was given directions to the rooms. Turning around, he went back to the others.
"I have our rooms," he said. "Since there are seven of us, one room is going to have four people in it. I figured Elincia and I would share a room with Erica and Derek."
"Would it not be better if the women shared a room?" asked Sylvia.
Caspian shook his head. "These rooms only have two beds each. It will be easier for us to share a room since Erica and Derek can share one bed, while Elincia and I share the other. The only person you two need to worry about is Christo."
"What is that supposed to mean?!" asked Christo. "Why would they need to worry about me?!"
"I do not know if I approve of you and Elincia sleeping together," Sylvia spoke with an increasingly dour look. "I don't want you two becoming like Erica."
"I don't know what is so bad about becoming like me," Erica said with a derisive scoff.
"I mean, I'm a good guy," Christo continued talking even though it seemed no one was listening to him. "I wouldn't dare do something to a woman without her express permission. You all believe me, right?"
"There is not a single thing about you that is good," Sylvia said. "You are crude, use your knights as playthings, and you spend more time having sex than you do upholding your responsibilities."
"Hmph! You say that, but let's be honest, you just don't like the fact that I am willing to sleep with my knights because you're a prude." Erica buffed her nails. "Unlike you, I'm not willing to let my knights die as lonely virgins."
"Don't worry, Christo." Cassidy patted Christo on the back as he ranted. "I know you're a good guy. I trust you."
"Thank you, Cas," Christo said, sniffling.
While Cassidy and Christo were having a touching moment, Sylvia's face was becoming increasingly redder. Caspian and Elincia understood that if they let these two continue, it would cause a lot of problems.
"We can't really afford to argue over something like this." Caspian thought for a moment, sighed, and said, "Besides, Ele and I are already in a relationship."
