Seeing the number of forces surrounding them, many in the army began losing heart. Caspian could see the fear in their eyes. They were outnumbered 2 to 1, and at least 50,0000 of those outnumbering them were the dark elves, magical beings similar to elves who had powers beyond any mere mortal. This was a threat which would cause anyone's resolve to weaken.
Caspian looked at the man standing before this army that had surrounded them, eyes narrowed, teeth grit. This dark elf couldn't be anyone other than Oreferrum. The commanding presence he possessed, the dark gleam in his eyes, and the way he stood at the front of the enemy forces was something only a reigning monarch would do.
"Everyone close ranks!" Caspian ordered. "Sorceresses! Begin chanting! Ele!"
"I'm on it! Thor!!"
Despite being terrified of the army they were to fight, the humans and elves closed ranks, forming a defensive circle that left no gapes for the enemy to penetrate. While this happened, the sorceresses moved to the back and began chanting Arias. Crocetia, Erica, Hannah, and Maddison were all chanting at the same time.
Meanwhile, Elincia called on Thor.
Lightning struck the ground, shaking the earth as the sound of rumbling thunder echoed across the vast plains. He appeared before them. A helmet sat on his head, wreathed in gold and decorated with horns jutting out from either side. His red hair was a little on the long side, and he had a full beard that covered his chiseled features. He had no pupils. His eyes were completely white and contained lightning that sparked within them.
Taking a step forward, the man's back and shoulders rippled with powerful muscles. He was a tall man. Not only did he stand at a height of several meters, but his chest and arms were thick and strong, like the trunks of an ancient tree from the Sacred Forest. His arms, clad in blue and gold vambraces, swung loosely at his side. In one hand, he carried a hammer. Mjolner. A hammer spoken of in ancient legends.
"Tis the first time you have summoned me, and you do so during the middle of a war." Thor's voice could only be heard by Elincia and Caspian. No one else could hear him, but many covered their ears as thunder rumbled. "You have good taste, young one."
"Thor, will you help me?" asked Elincia.
"But of course. Tis why you summoned me, is it not?"
At those words, Thor raised his hammer above his head. Lightning gathered around it. Crackling and sparking, a bright blue glow emanated from the hammer, which he began spinning around and around. Soon the hammer was spinning so fast it looked like the blades of a rotor. The bright lightning crackled even brighter and arcs of electricity leapt out.
Then Thor let the hammer go.
And one section of the opposing army was completely annihilated.
Caspian had not been able to see it happen, for the action happened all too fast. All he saw was the aftermath. The bright flash followed by a massive crater several dozen kilometers long and maybe a hundred wide. All the dark elves and Murakumos that had been there were now gone. They had been utterly obliterated.
Thor raised his hand and the hammer came back. Caspian didn't know how that worked, but he didn't have time to ponder it when the Nordic Spirit of Thunder turned toward Oreferrum.
"This one must be the leader. Tis only fitting that he lose his head to me," Thor said, and with that, the spirit launched Mjolner at Oreferrum.
"World Serpent."
Despite the hammer for the most powerful spirit within the Nordic Clan sailing toward him, Oreferrum didn't seem to care. He spoke with a calming voice. The hammer that had been soaring toward him was suddenly knocked away by a massive black tail that seemed to have appeared from out of nowhere.
