Arina jumped as the bell rung, it was a lot louder here than at her old school. She hurried to class, hoping that strange girl wouldn't be in it... No, that wasn't fair, she was just trying to be nice. She was trying to be her friend... But she couldn't have friends, no matter how much she wanted one, it was too risky...

Arina pushed open the classroom door, sighing sadly to herself. Suddenly a burst of panic shot it's way into her heart, biting down on her lip she at the challenge before her, choosing a seat.

Taking a deep breath in she stared around the room, taking in the scene... In the back were a group of kids, chairs all turned to face each other. Arina looked down, a jealous groan escaped her lips. In the front were a few seats available, but the thought of sitting in the front on her first day made Arina's skin crawl. Finally, she saw two seats in the middle, perfect! Wandering over to one of them Arina jolted suddenly as she saw Brianna, waving madly at her. She grinned awkwardly, trying to avoid her gaze. Walking back a few paces she ducked her head down and sat down in the other seat, not even checking who she was sat next to.

Arina fiddled with a pencil, trying to get her mind off of everything... The day hadn't gone off to a great start. As she waited nervously for the class to begin a strange feeling filled her with confusion, she felt like someone was staring at her... Putting her pencil down she shot a quick glance to her left, accidentally making eye contact with a girl who sure enough, was looking at her with a contemplative gaze. Her chocolate brown eyes shot open, and with a small frightened noise jolted up, flailing her arms wildly as she nearly fell out of her seat. She turned away from Arina, grabbing bunches of hair she draped them frantically over her red face.

Arina followed suit, tensing up and swinging her head to the right only to see Brianna sitting next to her as well, though not looking her way, she gave the girl to Arina's left a disappointed glare, bringing a hand across her eyes she face palmed. Arina felt her heart rate quicken, looking left and right in a flustered blur, she was surrounded. At last she just sighed anxiously and pressed her head against the desk.

"Good morning," A voice echoed around the classroom, Arina lifted her head slightly to see the teacher standing at the front of the room, scanning her eyes around the class. Arina bolted upright and gave a weak smile she wished looked a bit more genuine.

"First things first, we have a new student. Arina please stand up." The teacher called out, Arina felt a pit in her stomach, her cheeks blushing a little as she stood up slowly.

"H-hi..." She gulped. The teacher gave a quick wave and Arina sat back down quickly, not daring to look around at her classmate's reactions.

The class was going okay, she tried her best to pay attention but couldn't brush off the feeling that girl was still staring at her... Not willing to check, Arina just sighed and told herself she was being paranoid. She felt like a parade horse with blinders, with awkward encounters at either side of her she had to either stare at her desk or straight ahead. But, at least she didn't have to interact with anyone.

"Now, for this assignment I'll be putting you in groups of two."

Fuck.

The teacher went on naming names Arina didn't recognize, until...

"Arina, you're with Daniella."

Daniella? Arina looked around the room, how was she meant to know who Daniella was? She stared around for someone looking at her, when at last she once again made eye contact with the girl sitting to her left.

Of course... She thought, covering up the nervous energy swirling inside her with an awkward smile.

"Hello, I'm A-Arina." She said, Daniella's face was still a little red as she nodded. She watched as Daniella's eyes wavered. Looking back to try and catch was she was looking at, she saw Brianna smiling enthusiastically and giving two thumbs up before noticing Arina and ducking her head back down to her notes.

"Daniella." The girl stated, trying to get her attention back.

"U-um, nice to meet you. " Arina replied, trying to make small talk to diffuse the awkward situation.

"Uh, yeah, you too." Daniella said passively.

"Alrighty then..." Arina muttered under her breath, leaning back in her seat. It was going to be a long day.
