Chapter 5: The Cloaked Woman

Author's note: WOO! Things are getting started! This is currently the most action packed chapter yet so enjoy!
Also, Just to let you know, this story isn't going to be 100 chapters long. I've got a basic plan of what I want to happen which should fill about 15 to 20 chapters. As a result the pacing is a bit quick, but intentional. :)

Daniella coughed as she ran straight into the smoke, trying to hold her breath until she could get in, as it wasn't as bad inside. The explosion went off mere minutes ago and yet the smoke was already clearing so quick. She brushed it off, not important right now. Finally making it into the school she scanned the area. There were kids on the ground, clutching their bags in shock. Most of them up against the walls or in the doorways, as far away as they could be from where Daniella and Arina were standing, the floor and walls tinged with black ashed scorch marks, books scattered around in pieces as many lockers were destroyed, a few sprinklers above them had activated dousing everyone in the room!Teachers started running in from all directions, escorting kids out in a hurried panic. Despite all of this though, no one looked majorly injured. 

"IS EVERYONE OKAY?" She called out, her voice quivering slightly.

"IS ANYONE HURT?!" Arina yelled, Daniella swung her head around to see Arina standing a few feet away from her, they exchanged a confused look, as if neither of them expected the other to be there.

No one replied, not too surprising as they were all pretty still in shock. Suddenly something crossed Daniella's mind, where was Brianna?! She couldn't see her anywhere! Her heart leapt up into her throat as her mind raced.

"BRIANNA? BRIANNA WHERE ARE YOU?!" She yelled at the top of her lungs, diving into the crowd of people she pushed her way past, faces blended into a blur as she frantically searched for her!

"DANIELLA!" Her voice cut through the noise like a knife. Daniella turned in place to see the familiar blue eyed girl, leaning lazily against the wall and waving at her so hard it looked like her arm was going to fall off.

A rush of relief soared through Daniella, bolting forward and wrapping her arms around Brianna, she hugged her tightly.

"Jesus, Brianna! I-I'm so glad you're okay!" She choked, breaking away from Brianna, Daniella's hands still firmly gripping the sides of her arms. Afraid if she let go she'd be vulnerable to some kind of attack. It was times like this Daniella hated having someone to care about, of course the thought of anyone getting hurt was frightful. But to be so personal, and when she has the power to have stopped it, it would be too much. As long as she held her, as long as she kept a close eye, Brianna would be okay. She would be safe.

"Ditto." Brianna replied, smiling through the obvious terror in her expression. "I half expected to see your beaten ass in the hallway once the smoke cleared!" She laughed, a few tears rolling down her cheek.

"Ha, I wish. I wasn't even here to fight... What happened? Did you see?" Daniella asked, calming herself slightly as she went into investigation mode. Loosening her grip on Brianna and eventually letting her go.

Brianna shook her head, "No, I was just walking out of class when suddenly the fucking ceiling EXPLODED! I don't think anyone saw who did it, it all happened so...So- fast..."

"Brianna?!" Daniella tensed up, in the middle of talking something seemed to come over her, she closed her eyes tight and seethed, bringing a hand to her head she leaned back against the wall again.

"I'm fine!" She exclaimed, holding her hands out in front of her as she could tell Daniella was about to go full worry mode again. "I just, just- Hit my head in the chaos. But i-it's fine. Don't worry about me."

Daniella peered around the room, it seemed no one was paying any attention to them. "Hold still." She instructed, Brianna lurched back. "N-no, don't. Someone might notice!"
