Arina walked outside, it was a cold day so barely anyone else was out besides her, she enjoyed the quiet but had to admit it was a bit lonely. She walked over to a tree and sat down, it was a nice spot, soft grass and a few little flowers dotted around. Arina picked one and idly twirled it around in her fingers.

She waited a while for Daniella to show, wondering if she should text but deciding against it, she didn't want her to think she was annoying. Instead she slumped back against the tree and brought out a sketchbook to do a bit of doodling...

"Hey, sorry I'm late." A voice chimed above her. It was flat, and void of emotion. Arina jumped a little, so focused on drawing she didn't see Daniella walking up to her. By the look on her face she seemed to notice Arina's skittish reaction, but didn't mention it.

"I-it's fine." Arina replied with a faint smile, placing her sketchbook on the ground and gesturing awkwardly for her to sit, she did, and they lingered in excruciating silence until at last Arina worked up the courage to say something.

"So, h-how's your day been?"

"Okay."

"Cool..." She replied with a painful grin, how was this girl so calm?! Arina felt out of place around her, like she was a burden... She'd only been here half a day but it seemed clear that Daniella was one of the "Cool kids" a pang of guilt echoed through her body. She was probably keeping her from all her cool kid activities, like skateboarding or doing illegal things. That's what cool kids do right? Arina wouldn't know... Daniella probably had tons of friends she wanted to partner with, but instead she got Arina... She stifled a sigh at the thought.

"H-how about we get started on the project then?" She suggested, and Daniella nodded bringing out her notes, Arina did the same. She already had most of the things she needed out, having done that as soon as she arrived. So Arina just sat biting her lip in nervous anticipation, hoping Daniella wasn't paying much attention to her. It seemed she wasn't, in fact, taking a closer look at Daniella rifling through her backpack, Arina swore she saw something flickering gently in her eyes. Just for a moment, she looked... Scared. Arina shook her head in disbelief, the moment she turned back to face her it was gone. Daniella was back to being her normal laid back self.

"Did I just, imagine...?" Arina muttered under her breath. Of course she did, she was probably just projecting her own fear onto Daniella. What would she have to be scared about anyway?

They worked for about an hour, talking only when necessary, which wasn't a lot. Arina hoped her nervousness wasn't coming across to Daniella, but she couldn't see how it wouldn't be. Her palms were sweaty, and hands shook like crazy. She avoided eye contact at all costs in order to hide the distressed look on her face. Why was she so anxious?! Daniella was just a girl, a normal girl. A really cool normal girl. A really cool normal girl who probably never got anxious or scared like Arina did. With her stupid half closed nonchalant eyes, and her stupid care free attitude, and her stupid... stupid... FUCK WHY WAS SHE SO HARD TO INSULT?

"Okay, my brain is starting to melt... Wanna take a break?" Daniella asked, it was the most she'd spoken to her all day.

"U-uh, yeah, sure!" She responded, cursing herself for her totally uncool stuttering. Daniella leaned back a little, and opened her backpack. She pulled out her phone and headphones, placing them on her ears and bobbing her head to whatever music she was playing. Arina tried to relax, also leaning back a little against the tree she flicked to a new fresh page in her sketchbook.

There was a long silence, one that Arina actually appreciated this time. With Daniella deafened by her music and staring off into the distance, Arina was free to breath out a frightened breath and let herself go. Furiously scribbling on the page as an outlet, and tapping her foot nervously. She didn't think about how worried her face looked, or how fidgety she was, she just drew. Line after line, letting the world fade out into background noise...
