Chapter 9: Rose's First Test

"AAHHH!" Daniella's scream echoed through a void of nothing, her ears still filled with static noise! Her insides scrambled together in ways they shouldn't, as she flew through... Somewhere. Just as she began contemplating the likelihood of her imminent death, a familiar yet not at all comforting feeling smacked her in the face. Solid ground. She found herself falling in mid air for a moment before crashing down onto a blank of hard wood.

"FUCKING OW." She yelled, her head ducked as she slowly got up on her hands and knees, she cupped a hand over her mouth as a wave of sickness washed over her. Her head felt hot and fuzzy, and she wobbled a little in place.

"Uughh.." She moaned, shutting her eyes tight. She shook her head to try and recalibrate her brain, but it didn't do much. Daring to open her eyes, she gasped. Looking to her left, was an open ledge leading to a 50 ft drop with only a thin metal railing in the way of falling. Safety cones and mechinary dotted down below, the floor underneath was cheap wood. Paint buckets, metal, tools, wood panels, and all sorts were scattered around the area. And behind her, a tall ladder to get to higher and lower floors.

Daniella gulped, she was at a building site. High in the air on what looked to be the scaffolding for the third or so floor, the house had walls and a ceiling, but it was very much still in progress, unfinished, unstable.

"Nice place inn'it?" Daniella looked up to see Rose grinning down at her, her arms tucked behind her back as she stood tall, rocking back and forth on her heels with a giddy smile on her face. "Someone real rich sought this one out. Still, just a little bit... Flimsy." Rose stamped her foot on the ground and the scaffolding shook.

Daniella reached her hands through the space between wooden panels, clutching at it tightly. "Where the hell have you taken me?!" She growled.

"About a 3 hours from your house," Rose replied causally. "Lovely seaside place, gorgeous views. I mean just stunning in the summer! Look for yourself." She beckoned Daniella close with a hand wave. Hesitant, Daniella stayed on the ground, causing Rose to roll her eyes. She reached down and in a flash grabbed Daniella's wrist and pulled her up!Twisting her in the air so Daniella was in front of her, she pushed her up against the metal railings and pointed out into the distance. 

"See! Look at that cliffside. God, I'm simply head over heels for it." She spoke in a blissful whisper. Daniella felt a chill down her spine as she choked on air, Rose's smile was warm and welcoming, but the grip on her shoulders was tight. Every time Daniela tried to get out from her hold Rose pushed her further against the railing. She could feel it pressing against her ribcage, pins and needles through her arms as Rose's nails cut into them.

"Don't you think, Daniella?" Rose asked, blank expecting eyes stared down at her, Daniella gulped.

"It's nice." She choked out. It was, beautiful even. The edge of a rocky cliff, from the house you could hear a distent splashing as a stream fell down into the water below. But that was hardly what Daniella had her focus on right now.

"Well, anyway...!" Rose sighed cheerfully, swinging around to lean back against the railing. Daniella breathed out quickly as she was released, scampering away to the opposite side of the scaffolding. Clasping a hand on the ladder as the whole thing wobbled. Without a second to spare she grabbed her amulet, transformed Daniella reached down her leg and pulled a gun up towards Rose!

Rose didn't flinch. "This again?" She asked with a scoff. "Fine, jesus... Try me."

Daniella's eyes widened, she was hesitant. Rose was terrifying and definately dangerous, but she didn't want to kill her. With a tilt of her wrist Daniella adjusted her aim, Rose yawned as she pulled the trigger, a bullet zooming towards her left leg she bounced up on her toes and spun to the right in an impossibly fast blur! The only thing visible was a puff of black smoke and once it cleared a smugly smiling Rose winked, striking a pose as the bullet hit the ground a foot away from her.
