Chapter 19: Light

"Shit-!" Arina exclaimed, throwing on a red T-shirt, her usual pink one in need of a wash. Groaning in annoyance at the thought, it was getting colder now and washing her clothes in the lake became a dreaded thought... Pushing that to the back of her mind, she frantically shoved various items into her satchel. Late to school on her second day, not a great start... Arina was about to toss her phone in the bag when a thought occurred, she placed her satchel down and grasped the phone with both hands, giving her full attention to the new task at hand. 

Arina: Hey Daniella, I might be a bit late today! Sorry!

Daniella: No problem, I'll wait for you out front :)

Arina's cheeks turned pink as she swallowed her excitement. Her eyes lingered curiously at the little smiley face Daniella sent, with a tap she switched over to the symbol category on her keyboard, shocked to see how many there were. What other faces could she make with all these? Her eyes gleamed at the thought and she quickly began experimenting! 

Arina: >:( 

Arina: ^-^

Arina: D:

Daniella: Uh... What are you doing? 

Arina: <3

Daniella: um

Daniella: Did you mean to send that?

Arina: OGH SHIIT

Arina: IDIDNT MEAN TO SNED THOSE

Arina: asdfgjkl FUCCK TEXTING!

Daniella: XD no problem dude, texting is hard 

Arina: Sorry, I was testing out faces 

Arina: I feel awkward now... o-o

Arina threw her phone screen down on her bed and covered her face with her hands, waiting with baited breath for the ding of Daniella's reply. But a few minutes went by and it never came... Arina began to panic, did she scare her off? Was Daniella annoyed with her?! Maybe she just didn't know what to say and was taking a minute to think about it...? No, that's just ridiculous. It was definitely one of the first two. 

Arina bit at her lip, her heart racing as her eyes darted across symbols and letters, in an act of desperation she crafted a brand new face and sent it!

Arina: \(°^°)/

Daniella: ?

Arina: \(°^°)/

Daniella: Ah, yes, I see now.

Daniella: (I don't see now) 

Arina: There was a silence and it was awkward so I made a new friend. \(°^°)/

Daniella: B-but you're my friend!

Arina: Not anymore. Me and Mr. Owl friend \(°^°)/ are leaving you... 

Daniella: Noooo! ;-; 

Arina: (You're not really upset are you? I was just joking)

Daniella: (No you're cool XD Don't worry so much :) )

Arina: (Okay :) )

Arina: YOU'LL NEVER SEE THIS FACE AGAIN! COME ON MR. OWL FRIEND! \(°^°)/

Daniella: ;-;... goodbye old friend...

Arina: So see you at school?

Daniella: Yep see you there!
