Author's note: Sorry about not updating for like a whole month...... I've been super swamped with coursework! Don't worry though this series is far from canceled. :)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Daniella bit her tongue darting out of the room, her face flushed bright red, she ducked it out of view weaving between students into a mild sprint. Pressing her ear to every room she passed, alas every classroom was filled with people. "Fucking kids trying to get an education. Selfish bastards..." Daniella squeaked out to herself, grasping strands of hair to cover her face even more. Dashing to the next door she halted as no sound came from it, she knocked, no answer.
Daniella violently turned the knob and ran inside, sprinting to the back corner she slumped into a ball on the ground. "Fuuuuuuuuuuuuck..." She groaned, raking her fingers through her hair. A beep came from her phone, Daniella jumped letting out a small yelp before chucking her phone across the room and turning her back to it, just in case it was Arina.
Face still buried in her knees Daniella rose her hands up in puppet like poses. "Heyyy Arinaa... Wanna go to prom?" The stupider hand spoke, in a mocking high pitched voice.
"Prom? With YOU? We met less than a month ago. Also you let me fall off a cliff. I'll pass you-? You fishy loser!" The prettier hand replied, scrunching up and turning away from the other.
"Woah..." A voice chimed from the doorway, Daniella flinched and sprawled out from her ball of solitude into a noodley mess on the ground. "I WASN'T DOING ANYTHING."
"So, your left hand is Arina..." Brianna said with a smirk, waltzing into the room.
"Don't read into that." Daniella blushed in reply, staring intensely at the ground. Brianna giggled and sat down next to her, wrapping an arm around her shoulders.
"What's going on Dani?" She asked, her eyes held a kind of parental look, the kind that screamed how you holding up kiddo?
"I asked Arina to prom and she said maybe..."
"Well hey that's not a no!"
"I-I know, but it was super awkward... I feel like I made her uncomfortable. I shouldn't have said anything, prom is stupid anyway. She'd probably hate it." Daniella brought her knees up to her chest and sighed.
Brianna held a thoughtful gaze, rubbing her chin, the side of her face slightly scrunched. Finally she shrugged and said. "Yeah, you probably did."
"Gee don't sugar coat it Bri." Daniella glared.
"But," She smirked back, "Sometimes the most important questions turn out awkward, maybe she'll love prom maybe she'll hate it. Maybe she'll accept with a sweet smile and a bouquet of roses or maybe she'll say no and shatter your fragile heart into a million little pieces. But the important thing is, you asked. You made an effort to get closer to someone, which, dude. No offence but powers or not you really needed more friends."
Daniella smiled, "Thank you."
"What are friends for?" Brianna grinned, pulling Daniella into a hug.
"But... I gotta know, what has you so head over fins for this girl? You met like, what, two weeks ago?"
Daniella groaned at her tail insinuation, gaining a smirk in reply. A worried thought entered her mind, obviously she couldn't tell Brianna about Arina's powers. What else could she express about why she liked her? Daniella's smile faded into a terrified frown, oh god, she'd have to talk about... Feelings.
"W-well, you see, I-I s-she, c-cookies-!"
"You're a big girl Daniella, use your words." Brianna mocked.
"Ugh, she's just. Sweet, I guess..." Daniella curled up tighter in her ball, cringing.
"Is that all?"
"No! She's cute, and really fucking smart. Also she's just super cool, like cooler than a freezer in the arctic wearing sunglasses kind of cool! And she doesn't even see it, I swear to god if I could meet the voice in her head making her feel small I'd punch it into oblivion a hundred times over!"
Brianna blushed, a prideful excited smile plastered across her face. "Aww I'm so proud of my little Dani! She's in wuv..." Brianna drew a little heart in the air, making Dani gag.
"I hate you."
"Love you too bestie." Brianna elbowed Daniella with a grin.
While Daniella hid her red face in her knees, contemplating the tangled ball of pink fluffy yarn that was her crush on Arina. Brianna leant back against the wall and began to think... Suddenly something came to her, her eyes lit up and she frantically forced her face back into a neutral expression as Daniella came up for air.
"Hey, so, assuming she does say yes. Which is totally a possibility by the way... What are you gonna wear?"
A horrified look crossed Daniella's face.
"Shit."
"You didn't think that far ahead did you?"
"Nope."
"You don't have anything but T-shirts and jeans do you?"
"NOPE."
"Jesus Christ..." Brianna brought a palm to her forehead, "Alright how about this." She began, plotting out her master plan.
"After school you go shopping for a dress, then tomorrow at lunch get changed into it and meet me under the tree outside, I'll give my expert opinion and you can finally get something formal in your wardrobe."
Daniella sighed, then she remembered the dress she bought Arina. Imagining herself dancing with her dressed like that while she was in jeans and a T-shirt...
"Okay fine!" Daniella accepted.
"Wonderful! See you tomorrow!"
"Hey, wait-! Where are you going?" Daniella grabbed her arm as Brianna hastily got up. She smiled knowingly and replied.
"I've got somewhere to be."
