A Rescue Mission

I'm thrown to the ground and Lotor snarls above me.

"Look at you."

I glare up at him and wipe some of the blood off my cheek.

"What do you want Lotor?"

"Revenge."

He says simply.

"It's your fault that all of this happend. I'm going to make you pay for it."

"Nothing you do is going to change anything."

He lifts his foot threateningly.

"I could kill you right here and now."

"I'd like to see you try. You and I both know Lance would never willingly give himself to you if I'm dead. You need me to get to him. It's the only reason you keep taking me. You know he'll follow."

"You don't know anything."

He says while lifting his hand. It sparks with dark magic before something comes flying through the air. Lotor crashes to the ground and I stare in surprise at Kosmo. He's pining Lotor to the ground and his jaws are dangerously close to his neck. Lotor freezes and it's silent as Kosmo slowly pulls back. He stares down at Lotor before turning his head to look back at me. The second he does dark magic sparks from Lotor's hand and Kosmo is thrown to the side. He hits a nearby tree and falls to the ground in a heap.

"NO!"

Lotor stands and dusts himself off.

"I forgot about him. Too bad."

Before I can move Lotor grabs my wrist and yanks me up.

"Everyone is surprisingly willing to die for you. Even a space wolf."

He inspects my face.

"It just makes me want to kill you even more."

"I need the paladins!"

"Allura, calm down."

"I WILL NOT CALM DOWN! MY BROTHER IN LAW WAS JUST KIDNAPPED BY A MAD MAN!"

Shiro winces as she tightens her grip on his wrist.

"FUCK!"

She glares at him.

"YOU DID THIS TO ME YOU FUCKING-"
"Woah, woah, woah. Princess Allura you need to take a few deep breaths. I know this is hard, trust me. I have a kids of my own."

The nurse says gently.

"We know things are crazy right now but the only thing that matters is you and this baby."

She growls under her breath.

"If I find out my brother or Keith are dead then I will murder you all."

Everyone in the room nods and Allura lays her head back.

"Be safe."

She whispers quietly.

The second I come into the clearing of the lake I freeze. Kosmo is laying off to the side unmoving and Lotor turns around to reveal Keith. He's holding him against his chest and his hand is crackling with magic around Keith's neck. Even from afar I can see the burned skin around his neck where Lotor's hand is positioned.

"Lance, so nice of you to join us."

"What did you do Lotor."

"Oh please. I haven't done anything yet."

"I'm not going to give you anything."

He rolls his eyes and his hand tightens around Keith's neck. Keith hisses in pain and Lotor gives me a knowing look.

"I wouldn't be so sure about that. At this rate I'm fully willing to kill him."

My eyes lock with Keith's and even I find it hard to see the pain behind his hard outer shell.

"I'm not going to let you do that."

I say while breaking eye contact with Keith to look back at Lotor.

"You might want to remember how really powerful I am. There's only you."

"You would never hurt me."

His eyes narrow.

"He's the only one coming between us."

"There's nothing between us! I don't love you! I love Keith!"

"How could you possibly love someone as incompetent as him?!"

"You're the only one who's incompetent!"

Before either of us can respond a massive bark rips through the air. The ground shakes and we all look towards the source. Kosmo is in a fight stance and dark blue magic is crackling around his paws. The ground under his feet is cracking and his eyes are zoned in on Lotor. Some of the markings on his fur are lighting up and he lets out an angry growl. Lotor releases Keith as the wolf pounces forwards. Keith falls and Kosmo lands on Lotor in seconds. They disappear before reappearing farther away.

"Keith!"

I race forwards and pull him into a tight hug.

"I'm so sorry."

I pull away and look him over. The only wounds he has are a cut on his cheek and the burn mark around his neck. I inspect the burn carefully before looking up at him.

"Are you okay?"

He nods and grabs my face to pull me into a deep kiss. Once it's over we both look towards where Kosmo and Lotor are fighting. In the blink of an eye a surge of energy bursts from Kosmo as he snaps at Lotor. There's a loud bang and everything around them bursts into blue flames.

"Oh my god."

I race forwards and once the fire has dwindled to smoke I see Kosmo lying unconscious next to a pile of ash. His fur sparks as I touch it and I kneel down next to him. Keith is soon at my side pulling the wolves head onto his lap. He strokes Kosmo's head but the wolf doesn't stir.

"We need to get him back to Allura."

Keith gives me a questioning look.

"She has the ability to heal things. A kind of reviving power."

He nods.

"Okay, I have a horse. We can get Kosmo up then take him back to the castle. There we can get both of you medical help."

Keith gives another swift nod before we get to work.
