P.o.v. Shawn

"Great show tonight Mendes" James said when he walked in. I tried to give him a smile but I couldn't.

I felt guilty. I've never met somone like Sophia. She was amazing. She had these blue eyes when I drowned in and she was so optimistic.

"What are you thinking of? Or should I say who?" James said laughing. I looked at him. "I can't forget her" I whispered. "Maybe you don't have too?" he suggested.

I don't know. I was doubting everything lately. The last couple of days have been rough. The only thing I can think about is Sophia. Even her name is perfect.

"You should call her" James said. I looked at him and shrugged my shoulders. I didn't know. She probably hated me. "You'll never know if you don't try mate" James responded. I hate it when he's right.

He turned around and left. I took my phone. My hands were shaking. I couldn't do it. I didn't have to guts to tell her how I feel about her. I sighed deeply. I grabbed my stuff and left.

My phone rang. "Shawn, where are you?" Aaliyah asked. I sighed. "No worries, I just went for a walk. I'll be home soon" I responded. "Are you okay?" she asked. "I will be" I answered with a fake smile. "Be strong" she said. "I will, little one" I responded.

I turned off my phone. I like to sing songs and stuff but sometimes I hate being famous. I really enjoyed my time with Sophia. She didn't know who I was and I could just be me.

Everyone is expecting something from you. Money, a party, a new song or even an autograph.

I still feel guilty for lying to her but it happened. And there is no turning back. The only thing I can do right now is to fix this.

I needed to fix this.

I stood up and walked home. "I'm home" I yelled. My mom ran towards the door and gave me a big hug. "Are you okay?" she asked. I nodded and smiled.

She is a sweetheart although she's a little bit protective. But I guess that's just a mom thing, right?

Aaliyah came towards me. "I have something for you" she said. I raised one eyebrow. "A muffin" I yelled enthusiastically. She always knows how to cheer me up and that's why I love her.

I love my family.

🌸

I woke up. I took a quick shower and went downstairs. My mom had already made breakfast. "You're the best, mom" I said. She smiled at me and gave me a hug.

I didn't have a lot of plans. I was just going to enjoy my time with my family.

"So tell me about this girl" my mom said. "Mom" I tried. Aaliyah looked at me. "What?" I asked. "I'm curious too" she explained.

And that's how I ended up talking about the most perfect girl ever. I told them about her laugh, her optimism, Jodie and all the fun we had.

"She's just so honest and true. She's special" I ended. My mom looked at me. "You should talk to her, Shawn" she advised me. I nodded. I knew I had to talk to her but I was scared. How would she react?

I went upstairs and took my guitar. I started to play some songs. Someone knocked on the door. "Come in" I yelled. Aaliyah looked at me. "Writing a new song?" she asked. "I'm trying to" I said laughing.

"That girl is really special right?" she asked. I looked at her and nodded. "She is. But I screwed things up." I sighed deeply. "What do you mean?" she responded. "I gave her my phone number. She contacted me but I told her that this was all just a mistake. She hasn't text me since that day. She probably hates me. And if she saw the show... I mean, I called her a nobody." I said broken. "I'm sure you'll find a way to make things right." she answered with a smile.

"Guys" my dad yelled from downstairs. "This girl, Sophia, is on the television". I stood up and ran downstairs.

"So you know Shawn?" some journalist asked. Sophia shook her head. "No, uh I just helped him when he got stuck. That's all" she said.

Tears were filling my eyes. Why did these words hurt so much?

I could see that it was difficult for Sophia to lie. Her hands were shaking and she was biting her lip. She did that when she had to lie about something.

"So you don't love him?" the journalist asked again. I rolled my eyes. Why do they have to know everything about our lives?

"No I don't love him, at all. Just helped him out. That's all." she responded. "Okay. Thanks" the woman said. Sophia just nodded and closed the door.

I kept staring at the television. "I thought you liked her honesty" my dad said. My mom punched him softly. "I'm sorry" he continued. I looked at him. "Son, you need to talk with her. Don't waste this opportunity. You love her" my mom said. I looked at my hands. She was right.

I do love her.

🌸

I ran upstairs and searched for my phone. "Where is my f*cking phone?" I yelled frustrated. "Language" I heard my mom shouting. "Sorry" I responded.

When I finally found my phone, I searched for Sophia's number. My hands were shaking heavily but I had to do this.

"Come on, Sophia. Answer." I whispered. "You've reached a number that is disconnected or no longer in service." the voicemail said. I ended the call and sighed deeply.

"And?" someone asked. I turned around and saw Aaliyah standing there. "Her phone number is disconnected or no longer in use" I explained.

I stood up. "What are you going to do?" she asked. "I'm going to visit her. I have to talk to her" I explained. Aaliyah smiled at me. "I'm proud of you" she said. I gave her a big hug, grabbed my stuff and went downstairs.

"I don't know when I will be back. Bye!" I yelled. Aaliyah would probably explain my parents what my plan was.

Well technically, I didn't have a plan.

I just needed to see her again.
